Just learned something new - at least for me - that when you run a system restore point (prob not the correct term) you will lose some swath data.  Specifically what I noticed was the planet list and the class 0's and stardock sector.

Yep. System Restore not the "greatest" thing, but still helps in a pinch. I find that mirroring my SWATH to another drive helps me out, especially for situations where I don't want to lose my data for ports, etc.

I was definately in a "pinch" on this one.  Blue screen of death kept popping on me - think it was a driver install for a network card that was causing it.  Ended up uninstalling my wireless app also and reinstalling it after the restore.  So far, no BSoD.  Bad thing is that when this happened I was locking a game down and didn't have much time before extern to get it corrected.

I suppose the "auto save game data" option in SWATH would not have helped either? Either way, you would have faced the same thing.

I have yet to encounter this issue, but it is good to know that you face this possibility if using System Restore. Thanks for the heads-up on that.
