Question for you all. I run Swath for my client and d/l'ed the pair trader script that a party named Zamfir wrote. Looked liked what I wanted as it takes all pairs I lists and trades them out then comes back to home sector. Problem is this.... I select it to run after doing my CIM to update my ports. The edited reopt is filed in the same directory as the swath file for the game as requested. Then I get this... Error[J3] java.lang.StringIndexOutofBoundsException: String Index out of range: -6 Lost and seeking help on how to fix this. It was d/l'ed from Swath.net btw. Thanks Vayle |

Got it corrected....author neglected to mention that you needed to remove certain text from the CIM d/l. Works like a charm now... |

Swath has a built-in pair trader. |

I have been looking for a twx version that will take the pairs I give it, trade each pair, buy fuel at the nearest sxx port at end of each set of trades, twarp to the next and so on. Its dangerous out there for a blue at the start of a game. After the second or third day I have a small grid out there and 10-20 pairs to run and doing them by hand sucks. Cerne |

Yea, I don't know of any that will twarp you around. That's pretty dangerous in and of itself if the grids are out in full force. Solution? Play less solo games. You're really not supposed to PPT past the first day or 2. By that time your competition is doing SST or SDT and you're going to get seriously out-cashed. Get a red or 2, do team SDT, make a lot of money, build a base. Kick some butt. |

yes, that is true. I play the blue solo or red solo in some of the games on Outpost. Its hard to find corpies with the kind of dedication I am seeing in the RevStock2 game on TraderVics. That has been a very enjoyable experience so far. I have an upcoming game on Outpost banging the 28th, we are going to give what I have learned in the above game to a test or two. Its not MBBS so we will be sdting the whole game. Cerne |

One strategy i've used to success in blue edits, is go red right away, and go fast. Cash like crazy for a couple days, then find the blue bases and take them, then, get murdered and go blue, complete the base, defend the grid, win. Of course, if you don't find them fast enough, you'll get screwed, so it depends on turns / universe size / competition level / personal skill / edits / etc.. to make a decision like that. most people won't expect it, and they won't be able to defend against it. |

This is a sound strat Cern..you have to start red in most edits as solo anyway as you need a ship and figs to survive...you can build a planet after a few days depending on the edits..I perfer to mega so I can save my turns for gridding and hunting (stock type edit)..ppting is for red bustup cash. You can go blue easy enough..going from blue to red as a solo is too expensive. |

Guess I should have stated that the one I d/l'ed was one that you can have a set of pair ports to trade out so you dont have to wait til each one is done then manually go tot he next one....not just a single one that swath can do by itself or even the world trade option... but guess I thought that was a given with how I put my inquiry....reminder to myslef need to expain what I mean better next time |
