Is it possible to configure swath to run in local mode? I'm using my laptop to edit some game settings to upload into my server later. I'd like to run some stuff in the games to see how it goes, but have my TWGS Software set to local, and need to get swath/TWX to play on that game. Is it possible? |

Do you mean you have TWGS on your laptop running and you want to connect SWATH to it? If so set SWATH to connect to LOCALHOST port 23 |

How about if you use the TWX/Swath combo. I want to test TXW scripts. |

Then you need to run TWX on your laptop and set it up the same way as you do on your desktop. pick a port for TWX to listen to and set SWATH to connect to it. |

I can't find a way to get twx to connect in local mode. I could run swath as you say, but that doesn't help me get twx going. I tried localhost, but that didn't work |

Well, in retrospect, I'm not getting swath to connect using localhost:23 either.... must be a setting off somewhere, but not finding it. |

The main problem, and one of my biggest complaints about SWATH is its authentication process - it has to have the Internet. This isn't a problem most of the time, but... if you Internet is down and you want to test scripts, you had best already have the window up and authenticated. If not you are hosed on running SWATH offline. I am not sure how SWATH could verify that it is offline and connected to a local (same machine) server when it goes through TWX. I would just as soon it go to limited functionality when it can't verify. Another reason to have ZOC on standby. |

Well, the challenge was in getting twx to connect. Turns out I had port 23 in use already, so when I changed the local game port to 123 it connected to 127.0.0.1. I then set swath to listen to 127.0.0.1 and port 123, and I have twx connecting localy and swath also functioning. Keep in mind that the TWGS has to be set up for local access as well. I'm using this to set up and test game edits offline. I can then just export those settings to my server and bang a new game without having to edit any further settings. This shortens the time I have to have the server down to edit games as some settings can't be modified with the server running. |

Okay for the port 23 issue, check the services on the laptop and see if the telnet server is active, and if it is stop it or disable it and it should let you connect to port 23 on your twgs. |

Prom, get with Mac or Stein re: the authentication deal. They set something to allow one to connect with FULL functionality, for a certain ammount of connects (can not recall how many). One does need to connect after the buffer is used up. Not sure how to do it[;)], but my old ISP was waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy to unreliable to allow this to go on. |

SWATH "should" connect up to 7 days since your last authentication, at least thats the way it's supposed to work. Don't think it's actually worked for me before. |
