I have been reading up on the multitude of ZTM opinions - what I have been trying to figure out... Which ZTM works best, and how many passes should be done, and what is a sure fire way to get an accurate mapping.

I am sure there are as many opinions out there as there are players, but I was hoping to hear from those who have a real good system that works everytime for them.

Thanks
Guy

personally I use Rev's for Zoc, then run Ck's after that. Rev's is like a 3 pass with ck's, but I like the reports Rev helper gives. Then i run ck's with 6 passes. but thats just me. Hope that helps.

Hey Zarkan, what helpers are you using? I'm assuming either SWATH/TWX or Zoc/TWX.
I run Zoc/TWX and only need to run one ZTM, and that's Revs. Everything that Zoc sees, TWX see as well. So why the second ZTM?

No ZTM script that I'm familiar with is 100% accurate. There are some weird sector layouts that will cause them to miss a couple warps. The ZTMs will generally only miss a handful of warps though and the process needed to find the last few is very time consuming.

there are a few people (EP and his type, hehe) who have top secret uber ztm scripts that not only give them a 100% map in less than 5 seconds (in a 20k sector game) but it also gives them the home address and telephone number of everyone in the game, including full legal names and social security numbers.
i played one game with EP and all of the sudden i have 3 new credit cards and have subscriptions to unmentionable russian websites.

but barring those few people, i personally use supg's (which use's rev's method) and then just do a little warpcheck script after to get a few more warps.
best method is to just corp with one of the uber people and get their map :)

Slim, you forgot to mention EP's ZTM'er also gives bank PIN's and your wife/GF's cel numbers.[:P]

Seriously tho, EP's got the best one I know of. It takes about 15% longer than SupG's, but it's more accurate. I'm hoping I can convince him to take care of a few minor details that we talked about in the past, and that he'll release it.

These accusations are all alleged. I deny any involvelment with credit card fraud and certain unmentionable Russian websites.

Besides, I didn't call your wives/girlfriends THAT much, and they were Ukranian sites, not Russian. [}:)]

Seriously, SupG's ZTM, in 6-Pass mode, only misses a handfull of warps when Gold Bubbles aren't involved. As Psion said, there is a pretty significant time investment in finding those last few warps. The Reverend felt like the time vs. accuracy of of a 3-Pass method achieved the best balance, as those last three passes yield diminishing returns.

So my advice is to use a 3-Pass method if time is at a premium, and follow it up with a 6-Pass method if time allows. SupG's ZTM works fine for accomplishing this in TWX.

As other posters have noted, it is largely a tradeoff between accuracy and speed.
Discounting speed, a good method to determine relative accuracies is to compare the total number of warps that the ZTM finds with the total number of warps that an Observer account will produce from CIM. The ZTM that is closest to the Observer CIM is the most accurate.

I use twassist, which unfortunately will not work past 5K sectors. A typical 5K has approx 12,500 total warps, twassist will usually miss 50 plus or minus, accuracy 99.6%. Takes 50 minutes. Gold bubbles do not affect accuracy or speed, even those which (used?) result in 100 sector orphans.
