Hello, I have this problem with TWX Proxy and connecting, and I was kinda hoping somebody here could help me in resolving this (because I wanna test TWX Connect to 127.0.0.1 on port 23...OK Active connection detected from: 127.0.0.1 TWX Proxy Server v2.03 (Release Version) There are currently 1 active telnet connections No server connections detected Press $ to activate terminal menu Attempting to connect to: gameland.darktech.org:23 Connection accepted Connection lost. Main> That is the problem I receive, and it is on every single server I've tried, and yes, I can connect to the servers normally without TWX Proxy. Thank you. |

Hmm, its a bit of a stretch, but are you successful just using telnet to connect from your PC to the Tradewars server? Secondly, have you tried to connect to the server using it's IP Address instead of URL? And finally, instead of using TWX's tray icon to attempt the connection, try pressing $c instead when it says "Press $ to activate terminal menu". Shout back. +EP+ |

Heh, I found the problem, my Wingate had it set so that incoming & outgoing connections couldn't be passed through TWX Proxy, I enabled both and it works now Thanks for your help! |

You will have to delete that database and redo it in TWX and you MIGHT have to use your windows explorer to go into your TWX folder and manually delete it. |

First delete the database using TWX. Then go under the TWX Proxy / Data folder and delete any files associated with that database name (usually an xdb and cfg file). I've seen the problem you are describing when a new database is created with the same name as an old database, and I believe it is because TWX doesn't properly remove these files when the database is deleted. Give us a shout back and let us know. +EP+ |

The following works for me. After you delete the DB, load up a different existing DB (i.e. one that hasn't been deleted) then exit twx. Then restart TWX and then you should be able to create the new DB. [conjecture based on observation] I think the problem is that when you delete a DB, twx still thinks that the deleted DB is the last selected DB...so when you try to make a new DB with the same name...it gets confused. But it tries to create the new DB anyway, and you get the files, but the files are hosed, and that's why you have to go back and delete them. Once TWX gets in this hosed and confused state, you will sometimes have trouble creating new DB, even if the names are different. That's because when TWX loads, it checks the directory for available games, and it looks into the hosed DB which causes twx to become unstable agian. So it's REALLY important to delete unused or unneeded .xdb files! Having a bad .xdb file in your twx directory is, in my opinion, the root cause for much of the instability in TWX. [/conjecture based on observation] |

Oh, just wanted to add one thing...since I've been keeping better track of what's in my TWX\DATA directory, I've had NO problems with TWX crashing that weren't directly attributable to a script bug on my part. |

Give us a shout back and let us know. +EP+ An easy way to name your games is to include the month/day you are starting the game with the name and you should not end up with duplicate names, i.e., naming Alien Base E as AlienE0612 or Slagathor B as SlagB0612. Use the naming convention for your helper and TWX and you know the respective files to load for the game. Of course deleting the old files will prevent the issue of duplicating names, but I keep them around for the addy. |

Alright, I managed to enter multiple game databases. Grrr! Now, I am wonder how to be able to log on to more than one game at a time. Right now when connected to one game, I try and connect to another in the database and it wants to log me off of the currenet connection. By the time I'm done you guys will want me to go away. LOL |
