Thanks again Earth for another tradewars program [;)]

I am looking for other players using this new attac/sync program.
With this being the new thing , I'm willing to get together to play
a bit with attac users willing to test the twxsync program.

I'll host a twxsync if needed and am using swath(beta) to sync.
ICQ or email me , the weekend is nearing [:)]

I have been waiting to try it out but the version of SWATH that supports it had not been released yet.

The latest beta looks good, so a release is imminent.

what exactly is twx-sync and does it work with swath?

TWX-Sync is a program that allows corps to share almost all information in real time. Its supposed to be pretty nifty, but I haven't played with it yet. And if you look at the post that Stein already made, a TWX-Sync compatible version of SWATH is "imminent". (Stein is the creator of SWATH) ;)

The TWXSync server is a great tool for corps and for single player allies who play TW and need info to help them get a leg up on the competition, and the data transfer is great, if another player on TWXSync maps the universe the other players on his corp have an instant mapping too, and it also links other data as well between the players like the busts on SSM and SST and ROB when one team member busts the other can do it till he busts which clears out the first players bust and he can go and start all over again, in this way the corp can be more efficient in making cash from the Reds, and a lot of the other data that one sees the others has access to such as bubbles, dead ends and one ways and a host of other things.

But the key thing is all players has to have a TWXSync server connection for all to get the data, they all, don't however, have to have a Sync server, just one TWXSync server is needed for a corp and if a game sysop wants he can put a sync server on his server site for players to use too.

I have one and have a few players who are using it and like it.

Hehe, the idea was to release it that weekend, but some bugs surfaced [xx(]. I aim to release it this week instead.

Great to hear,

That means more players on my server will be using the TWXSync server I have on the server, the TWXSync server is a great change to the game, and is well needed.

So does the TWXSync Server have to be running on server hosting the game or can you find another server out somewhere on a different server but be playing a game on yet another server and still share info about the game you are playing??

Anyone can run a TWXSync server! However, it is designed to have 1 teammate per corp run it. In this way, the entire corp shares all their data in real-time. No more emailing cim files. It makes no difference if you online/offline. Offline players get their updates as soon as the log onto the server which occurs when you connect to a Tradewars game.

Some Sysops might decide to run a TWXSync server for their board. Right now, the TWXSync server (registered) will manage up to 10 games at a time and will handle a pretty large number of users.

In any case, while this will work, i suggest that each corp runs their own.

earth is right on this the Sync server I have is for my corpies to use and we have it set up on my main server and use it to play on other games, when they plaly my server I bow out cause it is my server, but at least one corp member should have the server and the other members have access to it. And it needs to be on a 24/7 connection for all the other members to use it. Thats why mine is up on my main server. It runs 24/7.

I am a registered owner of TWXSync and have had a bit of a problem.
First , it would not connect using port 7777 like suggested , so
I tryed port 8888 .. seems ok but every now and then it crashes.

Who picked the port numbers and have been checked to see that they don't interfere with other aplications ?

Port 8888 seems to have problems with TWGS server (my side).

Do you have any other port addresses you KNOW are safe to use ?

Is anyone else besides me and GodZilla having troubles like this ?

Seems odd. I did some research. Apparently Napster and Ultima Online use port 7777. It is possible that something else on your machine is using the port. Try something random above 10000. If you have trouble with ports, check your firewall. If it crashes, then let me know. email me :)
