Well boys n girls phX has been sent away to another usmc station and am away from my computer for awhile. Trying to connect to ANY twgs server and can't with windows telnet, guess they have it blocked. Im using the base library machine. How can I force a link on a webpage to refer to hyperterminal instead of the standard telnet app? Running NT workstation here....this bytes.

TAD is a military term basically meaning I am away temporarily to someplace else..dunno the exact acronym words.

Thanx

double-click my computer
choose view-options-file types
scroll down to URL:Telnet Protocol, edit
change it to whatever telnet app you want

If they're doing the computers there anything like the way the GSA machines are you may just be out of luck. These units are locked down TIGHT; you can forget about installing software, the posix subsystem has been disabled, and the standard inet tools like telnet, nslookup, ipconfig, etc. seem to have been removed.

Not like the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet then. I got stuck with a NT4 workstation and was able to put Cygwin and other things on it, though I had to get an administrator to install updates for the stupid Foxpro program I had to use.

Sometimes you can't run an installer that makes changes to the registry or puts files in certain folders, but you can still put executables in your own folders and run them. (Yay Microsoft security!) I think you could do this with HyperTerm if you had a copy of it. Dunno if you could change the association for telnet:// URLs though.

Suddenly you're Busted!

as i am thinking.... i realize that if you want, i could tell you how to put ATTAC v4.1 on a Floppy and run it from the floppy :)
it does write to the registry, but not to anywhere that is secured by the OS (i think). you could just throw the Floppy into the drive and run attac. i would have to teach to you how to bypass a few things, but it should be possible if you want.

unfortunately, i decided to discontinue the LINUX version since GTK+ was not stable enough. I have since released version 4.1 for windows which is a full release and is very stable.
try it out at http://www.tw-attac.com

Luckily I don't run windows at home, so the windows version is not an option for me, i was just curious if you knew off hand what it might be. But if not, thats ok... Jtwat still works for me.

just reinstall it. or delete the offending game and recreate it. most likely, the DB is corrupted.

UHHHH.... Who cares what you mind?.... I was just telling him what the acronym stood for because its something he should know as he IS a United states Marine. Suggestion.. Sometimes you see stuff in a forum that is not meant for you.. in that case just go to another message or dont bother to respond. Not flaming in any sense but sometimes your input may not be wanted either. just somthing for you to think about.[}:)]

Heh... I was a Marine for five years and never heard anyone expand the acronym, but I guessed it meant something like that. Anyway, we seldom used the term "TAD". A Marine on TAD was "fapped out". And don't ask where that expression came from, either! Must just be a Wing Thing. [;)]
