Hi,

I've been using ATTAC v311 (registered) and it has been working great. Today when I attempted to connect to the Trade Wars game I've been playing, my computer just hung for a few seconds, then a message window poped up and said: "Unable to connect". In the main window of ATTAC it said: "Unable to detect protocol. Telnet expected..."

Does anyone have any idea what could have happened to ATTAC? I am able to telnet into the game manually just fine. I am able to connect with SWATH just fine. It is just ATTAC that is having trouble.

I completely uninstalled ATTAC and reinstalled. It does the same thing. I even uninstalled it again, and manually deleted the folders to be sure there was nothing left over. Reinstalled and still the same problem. I'm at a loss for what to try next.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ok, here's the update.

I completely uninstalled both ATTAC and SWATH. Re-downloaded the ATTAC 3.1.1 archive. Extracted and installed from that. Ran ATTAC and it worked this time.

Some scientist I turned out to be - I changed 2 things and now I don't know which one fixed the problem. I'm still not sure what happened to make ATTAC stop working in the first place, but it's fixed now.

Hope this helps. I will try to contact earth about this to see if he has ever seen this before.
