OK, I guess it's time for me to stick my foot in my mouth and upset everyone (and if you want to know why I haven't been around ICQ me).

It's great that Xide has released TWX Proxy under the GPL.

There in one big of issue to consider with the Source Forge project:[8]

Currently TWX Proxy uses a non-free compiler. Oh, you can use Kylix to compile on Linux if the project is under a free license. But you can't on Windowz.

I think that consideration should be given to converting TWX Proxy to the Gnu Compiler, or possibly one of the other free Pascal Compilers.

As many of you know I was intending to release the old Universe Expander under the GPL. Due to the nature of the libraries used, and the compiler, this has not been possible (the compiler that I used was Visual Basic for DOS). Now there aren't any good free Basic compilers - at least if there are I can't find them.

So I'm going to release it under the BSD license instead. Give me another couple of weeks, I started to rewrite it, then stopped when I couldn't work around the GPL issue, and was feeling really bad.

Note that under the circumstances I will be offering free compiling to anyone who works on the Expander, since the compiler is no longer commercially available from Microsloth.
