 Re: Create list of ports

Ok now here is my next issue. I'm trying to see if a script can acually pull a list of sectors in a bubble to a text file. I notice in SWATH that it will list the gates and then the bubble sectors. I'd like to dump it in a text file similar to the port one I have worked on. Now in twxproxy it has the option to export a bubble list and a deadend list. In the bubble list, it lists sectors and the second number I assume is the distance to Stardock, or is it depth? The deadend lists just sector numbers. Is there a way to have a script dump a list of sectors in a bubble to text? I would assume that this would also rely on my database and any bubbles I've encountered. I also am curious if same script can allow player to input depth of the bubble. Use the deadend option in TWXProxy to dump sector numbers into a text file. If you are using this to match with your port search, then I know from my experience and usage of this data that you will want the deadend text list. The bubble list is a pain with that second integer listed for any data parsing. Yes, that list was causing issues with my parsing data from text files. I did use the deadend list created from TWXProxy and filtered that into my worksheet along with the different port search text files. It was exactly what I was looking for. I took the worksheet we got from you and made a few modifications to it per your previous permission. I've sent you the added worksheet in the book that contains the formulas and such I am using. It lists what the page is used for specifically and I hope you will find it quite a useful addition to your workbook you made. Thanks for all help to get me up to speed on this game, scripts, helpers. Hopefully I will be a good player soon.

The modifications and addition look good. Daala found an error with one of your fomulas and corrected it for you. I've sent the revised copy to you. I'm glad you found it useful and look forward to playing against you both again real soon. See if you are learning from the teacher. lol

I spent a good three hours trying to get that function to work properly. Tell Daala thanks for looking at thatand fixing it. Thanks for the info on the different scripts. I found the write up very informative. Gives me a better idea as to what some of these do and what I can write for future scripts. We look forward to another game with you two as well. Let me know when it's ready.

For each 1 hour spent writing a script it takes 2 hours of debugging. And that does not count how long it take to rewrite it when someone points out I did it all the hard way. Stick with it man. It's only gonna get easier.

Really, when? I've found is that my scripts just get more complicated as I've learned more about the game and come up with the "dang, if only I could make a script do..." thought process. Some scripts are easy to write on the fly to meet something in the game, but there is one script I haven't been able to write..... If I ever get it done, that will be the end of the game for me (don't bother asking which script).

PS: Now I'm dying to know "what script".

But I do appreciate those like Singularity, Thrawn, and others for taking time out of their day to help when I'm frustrated.

I can't think of another script that gave me this much trouble, and yet the final solution was so simple. As above, don't bother asking what the script does, it was my private challenge which I think every script writer needs.
