Actually, it sounds similar to the years ago. People join and say "what scripts shoud I use" they are told, and don't understand how to use them, and hence it is only worse.
It would seem to make more sense to have one web page detailing game operations (I know there used to be some great ones), followed by links to scripts explaining there uses.
I know I had well over 50+ scripts, some were extremely specific for uses, others were scripts I made on the fly. In the end, even most of my perma corpies didn't know what to use them all for. It is more about understanding the game before understanding the scripts.
IE the question above "why would i want to buy down worst price", that is just an example of why the person would first need to understand the reasons the scripts are used.
Probably most importantly though, is that people need to know scripts won't save them. Hell, any of my corpies can testify my scripts would mess up sometimes and get them killed.

Very true, I have been killed before from using scripts, that did make me stronger as I searched and had to figure out why it happened and what I need to do in the future to fix that so I don't die.

Edit: Bah I guess I got the list wrong. I was thinking of Alias, not you. Sorry about that Jhereg151. Not sure how I got you two mixed up.

Actually starting them off with TWX, and the script packs available on Grimy's along with the scripts available from Prom and Sing is enough to get them started.
What I would like to see is a script pack from prom and dny to add to CK's, wildstar's and MD (Manifest Destiny)
The main script missing for a n00b is a lawnmower since CK's doesn't work with 204F. We tell them to always use one but there isn't a working script thats public

Regardless of script packs, the root problem is knowing why/how to use them and when. In the end, scripts just make the game easier, they don't play it for you.
Hmm I could swear I used to say that alot.

Hmm I could swear I used to say that alot. What I did was download every single script available on grimy's for the version of twx I was using. Then I started using them, and dying, using them some more, dying some more..... And you are right about the scripts not playing for you. BUT all else being equal, good scripts make the difference between living and dying, winning and losing. Notice the bold/red "all else being equal" qualifier. Cerne

Of course, i would agree with that. I guess what I was trying to nail more was that in the long run, in benefits someone to learn / understand the game before using scripts to do it. Otherwise they are simply pushing buttons and not knowing why, so when they have to make their own decisions, it is bad.

That is true on knowing when and why to use a script. My thought is to put a list of scripts together that would be useful to the new/returning player. The descriptions of the scripts are available on grimy and on navhaz.com.
This is a starting point for these players on knowing what scripts to start with. Knowing when to use a specific script takes game knowledge and that will come with time and help from others - but they will have a script available when someone asks them to run saveme.

I did a small writeup for CK's stuff a while back... it's out there, if someone needs it let me know. All of my scripts come with directions, either before the D/L or in the comment at the top.
Most people don't get that involved w/ scripts tho until they've played in a corp game, by then they usually have some decent idea what they do. But the nuances on how to use them... could use better documentation for sure.

There is a lawnmow I released on grimy's that would work just fine for n00bs. Also one built into the M()M Bot, which will have many new options in the next release.

I have a lawnmower somewhere! I should go test and see how bad my scripts are today.

SupG's lawn is in his pack too... think its in ts format, so should work still, just might not be as fast as newer ones.
btw... I haven't used it with Final... so I can't say for sure it will work...
