But - much as we dread doing it - finding the bad guys (anybody not on your corp in THIS particular game) is as essential as building up your own assets.
And in a 20K universe the more you have gridded, the less you have to search manually.
It would be nice to have a grid script that didn't require a ztm or constantly run in a straight line.
A good pdrop will get you sooner or later in straight line grids.
Didn't say i would -lol- said a good one would.

Go to Grimytrader.com and get rammar's gridding scripts from there. Best public gridding scripts I know of.

And for pity's sake, don't grid in order!
There was one person going in incremental order one time.
Turned on IG and sat waiting for them.
Last time they did that...

The war between gridder and grid defense is a hot one. Probably the only one left, really.
(rant)
Everyone knows and doesn't argue about cashing (well, for the most part). Base building is pretty straight forward, even if you burn a few more turns in the process, it's gridding that people don't get.
But see it's waaaaay simple. Too simple and that's what freaks people out. It's simply hitting figs. But if the other side is half-way intelligent and in the mood to kill you, guess what... that's what's going to happen unless you can be halfway-intelligent and stop it.
There are a hundred different patterns that are just that, patterns, and easy to recognize. If you start from a given sector and charge out to a given sector... guess what, pattern! And a half-decent player can go "ok, he started here, stopped here, lets see what's around both those points."
I think people often forget that when turning on a script, they're not fighting a script or computer. They're fighting another live human being. And while some people are pushovers on the grid... that doesn't mean your script (or your technique) is working. It just means you aren't dead... yet.
Don't think in terms of "what script should I use to..." because that's just not going to work. Think in terms of "what do I need to beat X..."
