quote:However, after probing, you should pull down a CIM (^i)
Hmmm, did I or did I not run a cim?....<scratches head>. Don't know but i will double check tonight.

quote:since twx only stores the warp data that it sees. (the probes don't go through every possible warp.)

But on a side note, after probing (100%) I had explored 99.9%. Only one sector had not been probed. So the probes did end up passing through just about every sector. Mind you this is a 5K sector, so that may change as the Univerese gets larger.

I'll try to clarify what I said. Yes, the probes go to every sector, but they don't pass through every possible warp link. does that make more sense? For example, there may be 5 ways into a sector, but your probe may only pass through one of those links. The other 4 may not get used, and therefore those links won't get added to your twx database. But if you pull a CIM, then you will get all the links.

zoso is canadian, you gotta go a lil slower (hehe)

you have not explored 1234
you hit C I 1234
it says "you have not explored 1234"
you probe from dock to sector 2345
the probe passed through 1234 on its way
twx now knows that 3456-->1234-->2345
but 1234 is a 6 warp sector
you hit C I 1234, u have "explored" it now u get all 6 warps out
or, after done probing, CIM and get all the warps for all the explored sectors all at once.
:) hehe

Hehe well thanx Slim, but normally its the other way around. But thanx everyone for the help. Being Canadian i have a tendency to enjoy a few pints now and again. Having done this the night in question i forgot to cim.... hence my new script incorrectly spitting out sector numbers.

Thanx Lades, A toast to you....

Zoso - also,
make sure you dont have any voids.
a "CF" plot will plot around voids while twx doesn't - so you can get conflicting results from that also.

Very Excellent point hog, thanx for the tip. I will have to include some walk arounds in my script.

True, TWX's getCourse doesn't take voids into account. I've found occassions when I needed the ability to plot around avoids, but I had to write my own getCourse equivalent to accomplish this. CF or ^F is very slow by comparison.
