I know about J-TWAT I've used it and it is buggy. Won't load a saved game without crashing.
Looks like if I want to modify one of those scripts, I'll have to learn Java.

Of course the original along the TWAT line was BadHouse's "permacorp" script pack and GUI interface (written circa '93 & '94? (?)) called
TWATS = TradeWars Advanced Tactical System
Shark later put it up for sale (i think it was $20 to register it) but it became deprecated when twgs came out and nobody chose to supoort it seriously.
Not sure if J-TWAT incorporated any of the original TWATS code, or how the name came to be so similar. I was on my lengthy tradewars break during those years, heh.

Most TW Helpers I used were offline. Except for a few Procomm Scripts that did PPT and other simple stuff.
We would meet in a computer lab and swap floppy disk files containing CIM data and map out the universe using the offline helpers. It was a lab I worked in as a college student in the late 80's early 90's. We got all the workers there hooked on the college BBS we ran that had Tradewars on it. Other doors as well. Only one SYSOP had access to TEDIT, and he didn't play the game.

Ya know, for some reason Graz just doesn't believe anything I say about tradewars in the past, or my part in said past, etc., so i finally took a few minutes to perform a little bit of research.
(1) TWATS = TradeWars Advanced Tactical System
The BadHouse site is no longer there, but several other sites reference TWATS:
http://openhere.com/games/internet/web/ ... s/helpers/
http://www.gameslinks.com/Internet/Brow ... s/Helpers/
http://tradewars.fament.com/Cruncher/Links.htm
[etc.] Go search Google for several more like this.
(2) From Guradian's own mouth comes confirmation that our corp had the first-ever p-drop script (another claim that Graz seems to have great difficulty accepting):
"The game has been on this route since back in 94-96 .... When Shark's TWATS PDrop script was the new attack script ( that everyone wanted ) ... "
(scroll about 3/4 way down for this quote)
http://tradewars.fament.com/Cruncher/Guardby.htm
(3) I played as Angel when I played with Badhouse before leaving Tradewars altogether. Before that, I played as Flynx. So far, I am beginning to believe that as many as 3 people used the name "Flynx" at various times in the past. It doesn't surprise me, it is a character in a science fiction book by
Alan Dean Foster about a young boy who was sold into slavery as a child. Perhaps the character and story resonates a little more widely than i expected. We also had an Angus Thermopyle back then that is certainly not the same Angus we know today. Again, a character from a novel...
Graz, i have a LOT of respect for you, guy, as a player and a teacher, but your memory of things past in this game seems to have some missing elements in it...

(1) I got the name of a helper wrong, sue me.
(2) Guardian did NOT say that, and do not misquote someone. ["When Shark's TWATS PDrop script was the new attack script "] Says nothing about the first, for the simple fact, it was NOT the first.
Many of us where using Pdrop scripts at that time, and BEFORE that.
(3) If you REALLY want me to believe you, then stop pulling **** out of thin air, and trying to make me believe you invented it, like AMTRAK.. You did NOT invent AMTRAK. Nor did your team "badhouse" invent PDROP (or write the first pdrop script).
Quote from ICQ, where Galaxi claims to have written some sort of haggle routine, using MCIC, or what she calls, PV.
[DE1]R1P71D3 (5:50 PM) :
1 is the MCIC formula (in script version)
[DE1]R1P71D3 (5:51 PM) :
MCIC is a very powerful tool, in fact, we can make a blue trader, outcash anyone using the current most powerful methods of haggling, (PPT) without gaining a single experience point.
galaxi (5:51 PM) :
you know, if i can find my old telemate script that did that (always got max offer based on what i called "pv" (port value") i wonder i ciuld get $35 bucks for it if i convert it, heh
To be completely honest, I didn't do the research on this, but a person I consider a personal friend did, he's spent over 8 months on this prodject, and he is NOT done. Next thing we're gonna hear, is that "galaxi developted the MCIC formula, not EIS" that's about the same time we'll be hearing "It only took me about 45 minutes to figure out all the variables, but I lost my notes."
And then there was god, errr COUGH* galaxi..
galaxi (5:58 PM) :
i was actually surprised that so much of the "port theory" had been lost through the years
[DE1]R1P71D3 (5:58 PM) :
was never lost, but research was mudane, without much payoff
[DE1]R1P71D3 (5:59 PM) :
Even if 500 people register pack 3, it won't pay for the manhours in the research
galaxi (5:59 PM) :
i did most of the groundbreaking work on that, hehehe, i just wish i could find my old tradewars CDrom, i put all my files on there one time when upgrading to a new computer, just in case i ever wanted them again
galaxi (5:59 PM) :
well, i had it TIGHT, we had it all coded in TWATS helper which was my clan's helper (they weren't called "permas" back then either, lol
I loved that one.. How you did all the research, you almost had me fooled.. Not really. If your gonna claim you invented something, or you already did the research, or part of it, or whatever, that's fine, just don't fly your egoboat near my dock.
This one I wasn't too fond of:
galaxi (6:01 PM) :
you would probably also be surpised that i wrote the first ever network worm, too, back in 1980
I was just trying to figure out, what kind of network there was in 1980... I'm not hacker, but I am a tech, I knew the first modem was created in 67', and first 'multiserver network' was in 81'.. However I didn't know WHEN the FIRST network was created (Since you can host a network on 1 server.) So I tried to look it up, what I found, absolutely astonishing.. Did you know, there have been reports, if AOL keeps at it, there will be enough AOL "FREE MINUTES" disks, to completely blanket the earth? I found some other stuff out too, but that was by far the most impressive thing I've EVER seen on the internet, probably extremely far from the truth, but it's funny as hell.
Unfortunatly the only thing I was able to find out, after a couple of hours of research, is that I'm either looking in the wrong areas, or there were no viruses/worms reported until 1987, when a few dozen bank systems crashed. What is also unfortunate, is that this man http://thelemon.net/issues/timeline.php can't code php for anything lol..
Now, I do love this one..
galaxi (6:28 PM) :
and the TIME FRAME you mention isa AFTER i had stopped using the name, so even THAT makes it suspect.
[DE1]R1P71D3 (6:30 PM) :
Until then- Stop claiming you 'invented' or 'found' things you have absolutely no proof of. I don't trust you, still think your a guy, and my gut tells me your not only a liar, but are building a reptuation upon lies.
BTW, do a little research on badhouse-
My timeframe is perfect, yours is ****ed up.
galaxi (6:33 PM) :
and i never claimed my time frames were very accurate, btw, i'm the first person to always have claimed that i'm not SURE of the dates until i find those notebooks!
I just thought it was funny of how my dates were inaccurate, but you (galaxi) don't even keep accurate records, lol, that's funny.
Now, I'm gonna getsomething like "ICQ logs are personal" blah blah- Then you'll realize the first time we ICQed eachother over something simular, I said "You shouldn't say anything you don't want EVERYONE to know" and you agreed. So technically, this is posted with your consent.
In agreement with the Geneva Convention, I will let you respond before charging you- However, don't mistquote anyone, ever, again.
Graz

LOL, Graz, it really cracks me up when guys like you who think they are so good at the smack talk have to post MY OWN WORDS to make their points, rather than just stand on your own two feet.
In 99% of the forums I've ever participated in, it is considered a serious breach of trust to post private messages in the public venue. Yet you are what, the 3rd, or 4th person now to do this to me in Tradewars...also your bizarre justification that i gave consent to this is even weirder. You have some real issues, guy.
And you claim to be a computer specialist but don't even know how to perform simple research on the history of networks, nor do you have any real conception of how long networks have been around. If you really spent two hours researching, to only come up with the wrong answer, that's pretty sad. Let me provide a small history lesson for you:
ARPANET, which was the foundation network that eventually evolved into our Internet, was established in the late 1960's by contractors for the Department of Defense. By 1970 it had over a dozen computers across the nation networked together. The following quote can be found here at the very top of the "1980's" section:
http://www.zakon.org/robert/internet/timeline/
(This is actually a nice, concise, and ACCURATE timeline of Network History.)
ARPANET grinds to a complete halt on 27 October [1980] because of an accidentally-propagated status-message virus.
I have been using APRANET/Internet since 1979. My first account on MIT-AI was THUNDR@MIT-AI.EDU. (Note: Early email addresses/accounts were limited to 6 characters. Also, the early terminals were capable of displaying upper case only. MIT-AI was the Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.)
Oh, and since I'm sure Graz will claim I'm lying about this too, i have it on TAPE. I did an interview for 20/20 (with Geraldo Rivera) back in 1981 regarding network hacking (the first of SCORES of media interviews i have given through the years), and OMG just what's on the screen when I demonstrate for the cameras what ARPANET is? A directory listing of all ~200 hosts online at that time.
You know, I don't see any real point to refuting Graz's post point-by-point, it's pretty clear that the man has some kind of hair up his Butt with regard to me and simply doesn't want to believe anything i tell him, regardless of the proof i can offer. I've actually been very successful in life, and done many things that most people only dream about; I've seen the kind of resentment Graz exemplifies many times in the past, and i can offfer proof, witnessess, and explanations until i'm blue in the face, but such people are still going to find some minor point that can't be documented, or some time frame i quoted that didn't come across 100% accurate, and use that tiny element as their basis for discrediting everything i have said. I wonder if Graz has ever done anything is HIS lifetime that warrants the writing of several books, the inspriation to at least 2 major motion pictures, or that impacted society at all in any meaningful way.
But if anybody cares about whether my claims have any veracity or not, they can start by reading "Cyberpunk" by John Markoff and Katie Hafner. I am not portrayed very positively in this book, but then is anyone ever truly satisfied with the press they get?
But since Graz has never done ANYTHING in his life worth society's notice, how would HE know about recognition issues, heh.
Oh yeah, I've run for (and been elected by the voters to) public office in California; I've had a Top 10 song written about me; I've won several world class poker tournaments; etc., etc., ...does anybody reading this CARE.
I doubt it.
But i bet Graz doesn't believe any of those things either, lol.
And what have YOU done lately, Graz? Won a Tradewars game?

This is becoming mildly entertaining.
So, Graz, how long before AOL produces enough CDs to blanket the earth? A timeline would have been helpful so I know when to get the microwave ready.
Galaxi is correct here as far as network history... but wasn't this a script discussion before? ^_^

This exchange is historical and highly entertaining, if both parties agree, I will post a link to it on twgs.org - perhaps copying the posts?
twgs.org is the most fun mix of tw flames and real info that I know of.

What I have, or have not done, isn't the issue-
The topic is accually about a TW Exploring script-
However, I've never laid claim to anything I haven't done.
I did read that book however, cyberpunk, believe it or not it was at the public library, and can be purchased from barnes and noble for under 10 dollars. (I think it was like 6.95 or something)
Was accually quite boring I'll give you a book report when I have time
BTW, when'd you find time to goto the moon galaxi?
Your abosutly correct about the servers - My research was on internet, not servers-
I think it's amazing all you've accomplished, and I'll tell ya what, if i'm wrong, I'll be your #1 fan. I'd like to see the Geraldo Rivera interview, as well as the picture when you were inducted into office.. Probably would be nice to see the Notorized seal too.. It's simply astonishing that voters would elect someone who was not only a drug addict, but a hacker... Strange- Can we trust someone in office who can not only hack into our bank account, but has a drug problem? I can't.
I'd also like to see the pictures from the tournament winnings, not for any sort of evidence, but I'll never make it that far, but am a huge fan of the show 'lucky' I think it would be awesome to have something like that blown up and put on the wall
Galaxi, to be simply honest, I don't care who you are, or what you have done.. But your claims keep getting higher and higher, with absolutely no evidence- I mean, god.. I don't see how you'd even have time for tradewars..
If I could get these pictures, I'd really appriciate it, you can send them over ICQ, or Email ( scifiwriter@hotmail.com). If you don't have a scanner, or don't have them digitally processed, walmart does it rather cheaply, while your shopping- I'll be more than willing to reimburse you, via paypal, or check/cashiers check/money order/ bank order/ certified check / Wire transfer / Pony Express
Now I'll answer your question, what have I done in my lifetime?
Met the woman of my dreams, married her, had a child, tried to be the best father I could, buried that child, went into depression, had another child 2 years later, 2 years after that, opened my own Computer Store-
I am currently, and have been an active participant in not only the local Native American community, teaching the youth, but in my own tribes (Lakota/Brule, Rosebud, SD) School system- I am in Rosebud 2-4 months out of the year (Depending on schedules), volunteering as a Traditions Teacher/ Counsler. I am a Sgt. At Arms (as well as Acting Secretary) for the American Indian Movement, Battle Creek, MI chapter. I've been active in my heritage and background since the age of 10, at age 11 I was the youngest member to join the American Indian Movement, which at that time, was unheard of. At the age of 12 I was inducted onto the board of directors for AIM, an honor to say the least, since the Board Members were required to be veterans. The closest I got to any sort of official government office was when Dan Quale went to a seminar we gave, in Battle Creek, MI- Was a great time, he danced with me (Have pictures.)
Unfortunatly, I feel I can do much more to help my tribe, community- However, with what I've already dedicated myself to, my store, my family, AIM, the community and community events, There isn't much more I can do, until I retire
I feel my life has done alot of good, galaxi. I've done almost everything I've wanted to do, and my envolvment in the TW community has been strickly for relaxation (Time alone). Which I've missed

That to me is impressive, keep up the good work. Your social and community work speaks volumes. Also raising a family is hard work too, esp when a child dies, that takes a lot to recover from. It also takes a lot of hard work to run your own business, I should know as I failed trying to run two of them, and I am back at college learning Business Management so I can run a third one better than the last two.
I haven't done much myself, compared to you two. I got married, have a wife and a son, and have tried to be the best father I can. When I lost my job, I became a full-time father to my son. I have suffered with depression my whole life, and recently it and other illnesses forced me on disability when I could no longer work because of them. I am recovering and I am doing what I can to try and get off of it. Only community or social work I did was help out some homeless people when I was working by giving them money and listening to their stories when I did work downtown. Co-workers made fun of me for doing that, but I felt that someone had to help. Some just needed busfare to the nearest homeless shelter, others needed food. I also give to charities when I can afford it.
Edit: I also helped out a lot of friends and family memebers by fixing their computers for free or almost free. When I ran my businesses I let people put a small down payment on computer purchases and they never paid me the rest. So I guess I sort of gave away discounted computers? I loaned a lot of money out to friends and only a few have paid me back. The rest I either never heard from again, or they never want to talk to me about it.
I play Tradewars when I can, but college and family stuff has priority. I am trying to learn what I can, and try to build back confidence and maybe write some scripts or a program or two to help the TW community and maybe earn some money as well if I can to register TWGS or whatever else I can afford.
While you two argue, I have respect for both of you. I stand to learn a lot from either of you. It just tears me apart to see two former friends/allies argue like this. I guess that is just the way life is.

Well, unfortunatly for my customers, their orders are paid off before the machine leaves the store They can still make payments though- The repairs we do are the cheapest in town, lol, so are the products, imagine walking into best buy/walmart and seeing norton antivirus for 9.99 LOL...
Losing our daughter was the hardest thing we've ever gone thru. I didn't get couciling, like I should have, didn't take medication, instead I diagnosed myself, and perscribed myself 1 fifth a day.. That worked for a few weeks, then it got to where I couldn't do anything.. So I switched to beer (Oh yeah, what a differnce doc, thanks!) heh... Eventually I cleaned up, and got a decent job- To be quite honest, never going to be over it, and I still feel I need counciling, but nobody cares about my sob story, so I'll stfu
adios

Talk to me sometime in ICQ if you want. I care. I can listen to your story. I've had friends and family go through rough times and had losses. A lot of my relatives have died over the past 35 years. I even had friends kill themselves. My brain is just wired for depression, it is genetic, and a chemical imbalance. The meds the doctor perscribes help, and I also take multi-vitamins. I'd never do illegal drugs, becuase it would mess up the chemical imbalance even more.
