 The fun part... WHEEE!
So as I mentioned before, I'm using the GraphStream library for the map in Weapon M. It allows you to control the shape and color of nodes, edges, and labels using a CSS-like stylesheet.
I've finally gotten to the point where I'm starting to work on this. In addition to providing some basic built-in stylesheets, I'm going to make the style (and the graph attributes it uses) fully accessible to scripts. So you'll be able to do things like colorize sectors by who controls them, or by enemy activity, or anything else you can think of.
Also, GraphStream is designed for displaying huge graphs. You'll actually be able to zoom out and view the entire universe at once. I've never seen the "shape" of a TW universe... I'm excited to see what it really looks like. You might even be able to spot things like bubbles or enemy cashing areas visually.

That does look way cool! Can we "view" it in a 3-D environment?

The GraphStream developers have said that 3D rendering is "in the works".

Experimenting with CSS possibilities on a dummy map. I plan to include a lot more information using colors, shapes, and icons.
