Howdy Y’all:

I got a new laptop (with Windows 7) and I am experiencing a new problem with TradeWars. I use SWATH and TWX. While running a script (World Trade) it runs great for 3 or 4 minutes and then the TWX program closes. It gives me this message:

 Exception EAccessViolation in module TWXProxy.exe at 000B0131.
 Access violation at address 004B0131 in module TWXProxy.exe. Read
 Of address 0000BABE.

Any idea what the problem is?

For TWX Proxy is 2.04 the newest version by EP? Also is this the same version to use for Vista but the Windows version?

I am a bit confused on this because I have come across a 2.05 verison and 2.11 Pro verion (but this is that old one by Wabbit that he stopped working on long ago, I think).

I installed the 2.04 and was wondering is it suppose to just stay in the tray there is nomore menu icon?

How and where are you suppose to install this, it does not seem to provide anything but an icon in the tray, there are no scripts or readme files, etc? Is it just supposed to be renamed?

UPDATE: Alright I just deleted all and then downloaded 2.04 installed that into TWX and then copied (renaming) 2.05 over the prior version and it seems to be loading now. I take it that is how it is suppose to go?

Yes, TWX stays in the task bar, it is NOT a telent client. So.. you need a telnet client (Zoc and Swath) are popular. The Telnet client connects to "localhost" which is TWX, then in TWX you setup the game parimeters, name, IP, port, universe size. Then you use TWX to connect to the game.

Once you're connected, right click on TWX in the task bar and load script. You view the game in your telnet client screen.

TWX must be installed in the root of C:/

No, TWX should not be installed in the root of C. You
need to put it in a separate directory, like c:\twx or
something. Just extract the zip and preserve directory
structure. 2.04 is the latest official release, but there's
a 2.05 beta that works for 7.

Sorry, I ment in it's own directory (folder) in the root of C:\

Not in C:\Programs\TWX\

For a while I was traveling and rarely able to connect using my own laptop and I still have not changed things over. Right now I am using

I:\SWATH 1.9.8\TWX Proxy

but

C:\Program Files (x86)\SWATH 1.9.8\TWX Proxy\TWXProxy.exe

worked just fine.
