Unread post M()mbot >buy problems (among other things)
I tried 6 searches before making this post; I'm pretty sure someones asked this before...

I need a tutorial on how to (properly) use the buydown feature in Mombot (or M0Mbot -- or m()mbot - however you spell it)

Swath takes 19 minutes to buydown 64,000 holds with best price
CKbuydown takes 9 minutes with best price (2 minutes with fast buy)
Mombot? (probably the quickest - i dont know)

Well I found out how to do the colonizing with Mombot (and it is MUCH faster than swath) So i thought I'd take a stab at buying down with the mombot...

here are my results:

Mombot >buy managed to get me some of my goods - sort of the way I wanted them... BUT it also did these wierd things:

1: it avoided every sector around me (why?)
2: it managed to LOOSE a cargo hold every time it ported (how? there was no error in the screen to show why I had 1 extra missing cargo hold each time)
3: it managed to loose all 150,000 of my experience points in a matter of 2 minutes... now i have zero experience!!!!! wth???

Quote:
To buy: >buy
F = fuel
O=organics
E= equipment
B= best price
Override = type this at the END if you don’t have 250 holds
>buy O 10 B override (buys organics qty of 10 best price over ride)

====== OMG it stole 150,000 experience from me! And erased my holds for no reason!!!

i've attempted the CK buydown that one other mentioned; (since i have zero exp anyway what can i loose now...) - it appears to work much better and easier than the mombot -- but it is also SLOWER... but I still want to know how the mombot one is supposed to work.

Is there ANY all in one tutorial that shows EVERY command that can be used in - and around mombot?

It avoids the sectors ajacent so you don't go warping off if theres an error or a problem in that sector...and you lost holds and exp probly because you had been red and were busted at that port

yes i am red -- but no i was not busted at that port; and i was not stealing from it at the time of purchase; i was buying from it.

There were no messages about 'you were caught and lost holds' (been there before)

there were no messages about loosing experience... it was all rather just plain old land - take off - trade - land dump - take off - trade - etc...

If you had been busted there is the only why you could have lost holds and exp at the port. The script aborts displays so NO, you wouldn't see it.

Ok; to confirm once again - I just went to the same port where I previously lost all 150k experience - (about 2 hours ago) - the same day - im the only player in the game - I was the last one to port there...

i ported- Traded - and got out just fine (when using simple old keyboard commands) -- no busting - no lost holds...

therefore - I want to confirm once again - that the problem was NOT me being red and having been busted there 2 days ago - there must be some other reason that this happened.

=and on the other topics; if you have any knowledge of other mombot commands (or more proper usage for how to use the buydown )

PLEASE share your knowledge with them.

If you are playing solo it would be better for you to just use ck's stand alone script.
The bot comands would be "Botname buy (prduct letter f/o/e) then how ( best speed or worst b/s/w)
so "bot buy f s"

there is no reson that you would lose holds or exp the game would not allow it if you are not busted at the port

As far as wich is better I would say the ck stand alone due to the fact that the mom bot is use the same script. they are esactly the same speed.

There is no other way you could lose all your experience as you're describing. As for losing
holds, if you were dropping figs in fedspace you'd lose holds. But if you weren't doing that,
the only way you'd lose both is by trying to trade at a busted port.

I'll clarify. This isn't the same as actually busting at a port. That happens when you're
robbing/stealing. This is when you have busted at a port and now you can't trade there. This
is not the same as a fake bust (trying to rob from the same port twice), this is trying to
trade at a place where you're marked as busted. You will lose a percentage of holds and
experience every time you port, which means a buydown will probably kill your experience and
holds, along with your turns (if it's a turns game).

In your situation that's exactly what it sounds like. There's really no other explanation
for it. Whether you knew it or not, you were busted at that port. Maybe bust clear is high at
that particular game. Maybe when you went back to check, busts had cleared.

botname buy f s
Speed buys fuel

botname buy e w
Worst buys equip

Not hard

As for other mombot commands, just type help and there they are.

There really isn't. Not from a buydown.
