Greetings to the TradeWars Community,

After a hectic work schedule, and the arrival of our newborn, Daala and I have completed our first release of TradeWars Academy. Here is a brief description of the application.

Introduction:

This project explores general aspects of the game TradeWars. It can be used for new players that wish to learn about the various aspects of playing TradeWars. It can be used for the returning player to refresh themselves on how to play or any changes made since their last play.

It will cover the following sections:

* Introduction
* Game Keys used to play
* Getting Started
* Navigation
* Ships
* Planets
* Ports
* Scanning and Movement
* Helpers and Scripts
* Various tutorials and other documentation

Content for this application has been taken from our TradeWars Academy site. If there is other content that can be added to this application, please e-mail me and I will add it in the next program update.

In a nutshell, we have taken our Academy site and turned it into an application. I will be adding more content to the next release. We wanted to give back to the community for all the help and knowledge we received over the years. We hope that many will find this helpful.

Very nice program, Thrawn and Daala. A good idea to get this info out there for all players.

A suggestion for your next release. Perhaps you could include the various websites and TWGS out there. I'm certain other SysOps would appreciate your effort to get their name out there too.

on my vista laptop, most of the pages are blank. the ship catalog screen works, the buttons on that page work, but all the other tutorials show no text at all.

I just checked on my Vista laptop and had same results. Works fine on XP. I should have checked Vista before I posted. I'll take a look to see what the error is and post the update asap. Little Captain Needa needs to be rocked to sleep, so I'll look at it when he's down

i suspect its something to do with vista security. try running the app "as administrator" - i bet it works. probably you're trying to access files in the installed folder, which a normal user might not have permission to do.

take care of needa - i don't actually need the tw academy - just installed it out of curiosity.

To all Vista users,

I fixed the problem that Rev mentioned. It was not a security issue, but a background control for the text I had. I forgot to change it for Vista specifically. I've recompiled the application and updated the link I posted in the first post to reflect the new version.
