As far as free, there was JTWAT, but it is no longer seeing any development or support.

The main helpers used today: SWATH, ZOC, and ATTAC. If I recall, these require registration if you don't want them to quit on you. You can run them, but I believe they will stop running after so many minutes. You have to manually restart it (if running scripts, etc).

Well TWX is Free but its not your "normal" helper...With Twx u need a terminal program..(heh even hyper terminal) BUT it has many great FREE scripts like M()MBOT and ST-Bot and lots of other stuff available at the http://www.grimytrader.com/ Many people use Swath and TWX together. If you have any questions about the use of TWX or any of its scripts I'm sure many here will be able to help you.

If I remember correctly from when I first got Zoc, as it is shareware,
it has the nag screen, BUT it does keep working.
I think after the first 30 days, the nag screen just takes longer and longer to go
away when the program is started.

If you do go with Zoc, u need to get an older version 4.15 or older I think.
Then get rev helper for zoc.
then get TWX and scripts

Zoc 4.15, TWX, and scripts are all at above link that SG pointed you too..

GATH with TWX...

For GATH to be the best it has to be very much improved over the last year. I will have to check it out and see what they have done with it. I have used SWATH -> TWX for a long time and the combo works very well together - trouble is SWATH isn't free, but then I wouldn't expect it to be. The price for SWATH is very cheap considering the number of hours I've played TW since buying SWATH. I think of some of the games I've bought and that have only held my interest for a few days and they cost 2-3 times what SWATH does (never mind the game console $$).

My only issue w/ swath is it's rather strict reg code verification system, and how that's been a bit of a rollercoaster lately. I moved to playing on a laptop for a while and I couldn't get swath to register on it, multiple attempts to reach Stein accomplished nothing (except for being told that it was down, which I already knew) and eventually I went back to my desktop. Forced me to use zoc for a while... ick. It also won't allow you to run offline, so if you're connecting to a localhost server for testing purposes, or on a lan for some reason... you still need to be connected to the internet for verification to occur.

As for paid things, I don't mind paying for TW stuff if it's really good and really useful. I probably wouldn't pay for a TW script pack, but helper-side applications have their place.

I agree with you there on the reg code system. That is a royal pain. I reloaded my laptop a few weeks back and had a heck of a time getting it regged. It finally "took" but I was in a game with an unregged/crippled version of software that I had paid for.
