Good idea.
As far as JTWAT, mine works perfectly. No issues at all. Just never liked the Explore script. Seems to march you right into Armids no matter what.

You can set the max 'safe' density.. just set it large enough to warop in a sector with a port in it. Wouldnt do you much good against grids though...

I used Jtwat at one time, then I realized I could just write a script for everything it does basically.
You could use telnet and be better off
Id say go with swath/twx zoc/twx telnet/twx. Anything, just not the twat

The reason I recommend zoc/twx over swath/twx is in most cases you get a better ping with zoc/twx Test it out. I'll bet you reduce your ping time on most servers by at least 10

To be honest I never did check pings. I just check the feel of a game. I dont like the speed or the feel, I dont play.

In an unlim... ping is less important. You won't be relying on torps to do the job. In a turns game where you actually need to hit people... ping is more important.

As game messages get processed by TWX before it ever gets to Swath I dont see how it could effect ping any. SERVER>TWX>SWATH but maybe im missing something.

Swath is a bit slower on processing, so if you did stuff via swath (java scripts, for example) then it would effect your ping. As for TWXproxy scripts... no, it won't. But because text processing is a little slower key time response might be slowed a bit... not like it matters versus a script tho.
You'd have to be running some heavy swath stuff to get your CPU to slow down in order for it to effect TWXproxy.
