To copy info from SWATH, you left-click and drag through all the the text you are wanting to copy, after it is all highlighted you click on edit and copy. Then right-click and paste it inside the program you want it to be placed into. Would be nice to incorporate full mouse functions within SWATH as of now when you attempt to right-click your highlight you will only loose it.

One way to shorten this a lil if you use swath is to highlight what you want, and then type CTRL-V [windows shortcut to cut/copy] , then just paste it into whatever as usual ... instead of having to go to the edit/copy menu in swath.

Thats what I do Talon.
ctrl-c to copy ctrl-v to paste.Works just fine for me.
One thing swath has over zoc is the info bar at the side.I like haveing all the info right there. I did write a script that shows what the window shows and you hotkey it.Also Swath keeps track of the class 0's and dock at the bottom for an easy glance.
Swath wins, its just the sucky part of the autocomplete.I keep forgetting as do a lot of people so I forget to do it in a script.I am waiting for someone to say they cby'd.
Great stuff

To be honest i really only use swath for visual map clarification of what an area looks like cause its easier to see it that way. But all the data i get that i double check on the visual map comes from a script written for twx.

You really don't need to know that information, and its a lot faster to have a script [i prefer twx] know the information for you, so it can adjust as it does its work. IF your running a grid script and your checking the status area to see if you hit something [like someone said] you may as well be dead already.. heh.

Grazhoppa - I just had an appiphany (I can't spell, tired, and working, go away) why don't you just convert it into HTML pre determined graphics (a sector with a port, or not, and style of port, blah blah blah) and we can use our webbrowsers to explore the universe?.

I have been molling the possibilies of this over and was thinking this is definitely the way to go. Using JAVA and HTML would allow you to create so many things, I am thinking on the functionality scale of GoogleEarth. I am not sure how feasable my ideas are so far, but I wanted to list them to see what everybody else thinks.

It could allow GameOps to instantly post the games map on their website for viewing/downloading of each game on their site.

It could be used along with the SynchServers to update the entire corps map information from each player as it comes in. Possibly even players could run it from their own corp website.

It could include a hoovering popup menu that would appear whenever the mouse is scrolled over a sector

It could allow zoom in and out, reciprocals, virtual course plots, auto-centering, auto-zooming, panning, palyer/sector pinging (to show you were you are in relation to all your corpies and/or non-corpies), wide-range viewing of sectors, i.e. being able to view 250 sectors at a time, being able to display a bubble or dead-end in relation to FedSpace as well as the MSL's, being able to view the MSL's and FedSpace in their entirety.

Clearly defined travel routes, i.e. easily determine a one-way from a two-way.

Advanced functions - Permit the use of the mouse to litterly make maneuvers by passing the information through the players terminal, i.e. plotting a course with the mouse and then engaging that course afterwhich it would send the information to the game. These functions could allow for fill-in fields to identify special circumstances for any highlighted/selected sectors, i.e. number of fighters and mines to place, types of ports to trade at, densities to auto-avoid, sectors to auto-avoid, etc.

Be fully compatable with TWX, JAVA, and REXX scripts, as far as data retrieval and storage is concerned.

Im sure there are lots more great ideas, (I did'nt want to steal them all [;)]) j/k! Great idea by the way Graz!

Wildstar, you can set a TextOutTrigger in TWX to capture the "y" that SWATH sends. And once you catch it, verify it's "y", then do nothing with it, meaning don't perform a processOut on it. Then popup a window saying "Um, you have T-Warp when ready on... TURN IT OFF!"

Just a thought since the thread is about zoc and swath...swath is a game helper and zoc is a 'mini-host (remember BBS's?) that lends itself to being a platform that twx also supports (as all of them).
Newer versions of zoc such as v5+ do not support the Rev scripts so have to find sources to post v4+ versions.... The team that built zoc in Germany did a very nice job IMHO!

I have 4.08 and 4.15 versions of ZOC if any are interested, and will upload them to Grimys for all. They both work well with Revs stuff.

Either way I only use swath as a telnet with the extra little things. The script speed is so slow I cannot even believe anyone would use it for a script. I could be wrong heh. Slow slow slow

I just had to learn swath scripting... not for server interaction but for client-side
scripting (submenu script). It's fairly straight forward, but is really slow. I can't
begin to imagine writing battle scripts in it. But for local elements where split-second
timing isn't vital...

You may know this but after u highlight, just do a ole ctrl-c to copy instead of going through edit menu.. a tad quicker. Ctrl-P also works for pasting.. :)

Timborulz managed to write some decent swath scripts in regards to speed. I think he basically ignored all the built in functions and wrote his own from scratch, that way they didn't have all the delays built in to them.

What harley says might be 100% correct.
</end disclaimer>

The slow part of Java/TWX/ZOC is error correction.
You want or the program wants to "waste" time checking whether you are at tie correct prompt whether you have actually disposed of that memory you requested better known as garbage collection. This is why macro's are so much better, IMHO it is because the macros don't care whether you are at correct prompt nor do they care if they send "cby" at the inappropiate prompt.

Contrary to popular believe a computer cannot do several things at once they can only do 1 thing at a time, We as humans think that it is actually 2 or more things because our perception of time is skewed. We have been spoiled.... the computer can execute 1,000,000 's of instructions /second which seems to us as being multitasking when when you get to the hardware level it is the same as your old 4004 microprocessor only instead of taking .5 microseconds it now only takes .1.

Has scripting helped the game? IMHO yes it has it has freed us from manually entering the keys which in a lot of cases can be repeated till infinity which I think is the reason a lot of us got computers ... we can free up some of the one thing we don't have a lot of TIME!

Just remember the only thing that is common to all mankind is that we all have the same amount of time to do what we need to; to survive.
