I just remembered something else. When I was testing an earlier version of the TWX 2.03Beta, I used a Windows 2000 laptop and had a few strange problems. I never saw them on my PC running XP, but I attributed that to the Operating System. One symptom, in particular, was that if I right-clicked the TWX icon in the System Tray and hit Connect, it would try to connect, then say connection failed. The workaround that I found was to connect to TWX with my Telnet client, then hit $c which tells TWX to connect. For whatever reason, it worked from the TWX command line, but not from the TWX tray icon.
I know you aren't using Windows 2000, but give this a try anyway if you haven't already.
Good luck with it.

EP, try what I suggested for the SP2 and it might also work for 2000. It uses the same services setup as xp does, this might also fix your problem and get TWX to load up with out piggybacking it to the command line. Just a thought to try! Let me know if it works?

Yeah, this particular Windows 2000 installation was on a laptop, and I only used it while on vacation. It didn't have the telnet server running. I've never seen that problem since then, but I haven't used TWX on a Win2k system since then either.

Thats odd, usually when the Telnet server is stopped then the other telnet apps of any kind should have worked, at least the problem is gone on that one, but still wierd!
