Daniel, Zoc with twx is the best combo right now. With Rev's scripts for zoc and some of the twx scripts coming out now, how can you lose.
Alexio, ZOC is ok for Rev's scripts. But its output is damned slow. If I were to hit "G" for a fig list in ZOC and have like 4000 sectors figged like my team was in the Big Game, SWATH displays the fig list much faster than ZOC can. In fact, in the Big Game, in the time it takes to display the Big Game fig list on ZOC, I could display the fig list as well as the limpet mine list in SWATH, which is fast with text output.
However......SWATH crashes often when TWX high speed scripts are executed for it like CK's Buydown. Of course this was SWATH 1.6.1. I'm not sure if this was fixed for 1.6.4. SWATH also does not connect to a local machine if you are not on the internet, making it a pain in the Butt to dial up to the net, load swath, connect to local TWGS and have it authorized, and then disconnect from the net to free phone line up and resume local machine testing of my scripts.
I've yet to try ATTAC with TWX. I don't have ATTAC.

Well I would suggest getting a broadband connection, dial up is in the stone age Timberwolf.
And yes the TWX support in Swath is much better in the new version, the only thing you have to watch out for is the auto haggle with some scripts and the twarp when ready with some scripts, all others seem to deal with those features just fine now. I havent ran into any problems with it since the bug fixes.

You're probably running win9x. The display is quite slow in that. However, if you're running win2k or winxp, you're unlikely to have a problem with the display keeping up.

Dialup is quite sufficient for playing trade wars. I've never played on anything but dialup, and I'm considered one of the best players in the game. Anyone who blames poor play on connection is just trying to shift the blame from themselves.

Yeah, I'm running Win98. I'll try and install swath 1.6.4 and see how that goes. If it does not crash on the TWX high speed scripts, then I just have to worry about is offline play on my local machine as it probably will still need to connect to the net to authenicate from server.

It doesn't take longer than 5 minutes to check, there's usually nothing going on anyways. I have played this game for a long time and interests me to see what is going on with it. I don't plan on staying away forever; just because I have taken a prolonged hiatus means I should be banned from reading them?
As Kemper politely pointed out my post was inappropriate and also accomplished nothing so I removed it.
umm, Grave, I wasn't talking to you heh - I was talking to Chaos. Why bother mention a 1/16 done helper that will never be done. Sorry, but I don't think anyone cares how busy he is - we all are busy.

timberwolf - there are lots of free telnet clients out there that are suitable for developing and testing TWX scripts, if not for actually playing a real game of TW. just do a google search on "telnet client" and you'll find hundreds. I think someone mentioned PUTTY, and there is also Tera Term Pro.

Thanks Cherokee. Hope you were not affected by the power outages.
Cheers.

Have a look at the new v1.6.5 of SWATH released today.
There is a new License Status dialog and now you can run it offline
Read the SWATH Help (SWATH -> License Information) for more information about how.
And of course, I think the best combination is SWATH / TWX since you
can run all of the REXX scripts out there along with SWATH Java scripts and TWX scripts.
Using the Scroll Lock, the text output does not slow down the scripts abit!
Check it out at http://www.swath.net [:)]
