Thanks for the memories. I gave it my best shot but I think it's time for me to move on. The Twarbase servers are officially closed and they won't be reopening. I wish everyone that continues with TWGS all the best....

I sometimes miss ATARI PACMAN. How could we truly appreciate what we have if Life was stagnate; I suppose I would be sending this message via smoke signal.

LS you know I respect your abilities, but that's like telling the Amish their way of life is wrong. It's different, it's not as technologically advanced, but it's what they prefer.

No one has the right to force a player to play an old text game using TWXProxy. They have a much harder time competing or cannot compete at all against some players using advanced scripts, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve a place to play using the methods they prefer.

I think all too often players are focused only on the "win", the destination and forget to enjoy the journey. Some players enjoy banging away at the keys playing this game manually.

Let's not forget that back in the day, we also employed grids. Only back then there were at least a minimum of 50 players in a 5k universe is most games. No one team could dominate the grid unless it was a death limit tournament.

We also didn't have the sophisticated dbase system that TWXProxy has, so we did a lot of our own dbase work by hand, pencil & paper, spreadsheets if you had them.

I'm really surprised you're closing. You just told me the other day that you had more players on your server recently. So, I'll tell you what I just told LS, but in reverse. You cannot force players to play manually or with only Swath. You cannot ban use of TWXProxy.

You can however use some of the delay settings, run only TL games etc. that discourage 24/7 scripting. You can also go really "old-school" single line bbs style.

Change is the only constant we must accept.

As usual your response has nothing to do with my comment to MB. Sure glad you keep hanging on to that one claim to fame though, most others just move on......I haven't played in 3 years and have no desire to ever play again so you might want to just let it go.

But in my email you said 4 years. I feel lied to. My life will never be the same

LOL, I have never played in one of Ice-9's games. You are confused.... I never P Dropped you.

So here's the deal. I HATE how the game is played now. I had to come back to it to remember why I quit in the first place. HAVING SAID THAT, I do like to drop in once in a while and fart around in a slow, low turn game....

Since NO ONE plays those kinds of games anymore, I get LONELY. But that's ok, I will keep the server up. It is very fast and it really costs me nothing to let it sit there and run as it has for the last several years.

I am going to play my game, the 5000 X 1500 I just recently banged, OCCASIONALLY and I will let all the others just run.

I will also offer full admin credentials to any one person that wants to manage the rest with the requirement that they NOT screw around with my game....

Who's interested?

I was replying to Toyman. He claims to like slow TL games, but he's just another script writer who took pleasure in wacking noobs.

Glad to see you'll still be tinkering around though.

Evidently there weren't enough players interested in playing his style of play or he wouldn't have closed the doors to his servers. The v2 toggles doesn't seem to be working very well at drawing in those 1000's of new players and retreads you expected is it?
