Yes, it did not belong in that thread....

So why does everyone need a TWA and practice time with that TWA before they will play a tournament?

Why do sports teams practice before they play? they take the time to learn a game plan and having the edit we are going to play on helps us figure out that game plan. Aces have been playing together for years. We have has 3 weeks. its kinda common since.

I'm not saying you can't practice. I'm saying that the TWA contains information you shouldn't know. A lot of information is not available to the player (i.e. citadel build times). This is how the game designers wanted it, and it is part of the game that you don't know everything in advance.

I don't agree. This is basically the same edit that was used last year so people have seen it, played it etc... this give a chance for the people who have not to learn it. its one thing if both sides where going in blind if the sysop wanted it to be so. it levels the playing field a little. besides no sysop was running the edit when zipp started the post so he and I worked out the finer game settings

I wasn't thinking of the Ice Tournament specifically. Many of the annual tournaments use the same TWA every year. I think it would be fun though to have one occasionally that was completely unknown.

There have always been two schools of thought on TWAs being available beforehand. I've always liked not having them and almost never supplied them.

That's cool as long as none of the players have seen it before. But you know how some people are. Run a tournament on a completely new edit that nobody has ever seen, and the losers might accuse the sysop of leaking info to the winners.

If you can't trust the sysop to not leak the TWA, how can you trust him not to use tedit?

I wasn't around, but I do believe SG liked to mix things up for HHT.

I'm working on an original edit. My game P. Seems I had the habitability rating a little too harsh on one of my gold planets. Players freaked out when 50k colos died over extern! LOL

I didn't mean that the sysop would leak the TWA, just that some players would be sore losers and accuse him of it.
