I have an idea for a game that might help some of us returning players. A total draft game no BYOC, we get a sysop to host and everyone who wants to play signs up and the sysop puts all names in a hat and draws them out the 1st two drawn would be the two CEO's. Now I know some of you have a "I wout corp with list". like me I propose we drop those lists and play a game and see what happends

thoughts............comments?

I think KB is suggesting that you and he may end up on the same team if this were a draft only game.

Sounds like fun!

If you really wanted to make a game like this fun, you would make it a lotto (all names drawn) game instead of a draft (pick & choose) game. That way no one knows who the get until all names are drawn. If you get good players it's the luck of the draw.

that is what im suggesting Big D. Having the Sysop or another no involved person pick the names out of a hat. So its totally random.

That would be a Lotto game and not a draft game then. We use to have a annual tournament that was called "Lethal Lotto". It was ran by Jackal and Soul, but when Jackal died it was never held again. They limited the corp size to 10 per corp and the last one held had 4 corps.

I'd be more than willing to Host and run the Lotto. I do remember the Letal Lotto games. They were some fun times. As D said, sometimes you got the good end of the stick, other times, well, you were still left looking for a stick.

OK. IF the server runs v1 settings, if it 3k turns or less, and if the edit used is released 2 weeks in advance, then I'll sign up.

Sigh.... My idea for this game came from the idea for you guys(the more exp. players) to be kinda like teachers for the new/returning players. does it really matter what server type it is played on or the edit type?

For one, I said v1 settings, NOT server. Secondly, you've been listening to Cruncher too long, because this is the way tournaments were done until she showed back up. Thirdly, just forget I said anything and continue with whatever style game you want. I'm out of this thread.

Now that I have a bit of my composure back I'll go into a bit more detail.

I refuse to teach a player how to play a high turn game. Anything more than 3k turns is too many turns in my book. If they want to play a high turn game, then I'm not the person to be teaching them. Maybe you should recruit Zarkahn or Prom for that.

I refuse to teach a player a game that I myself don't know how to play myself. v2 settings (planet move delays, photon delays, attack delays) is not Tradewars in my opinion.

Good teachers looks over the material and learn it well before they try to teach the students. If I don't have the edit in advance it's very hard to teach someone how it should be played.

Now you can take this as me being hard to get along with if you want to, but those are the things that are a must for me to play in a tournament. If these things are too difficult for others to agree with, then by all means have a great game and I'll just watch from the sidelines.

Well honestly I couldn't tell the deference between a ver 1 or ver 2 server. that's part of why I want to do this. As far as the game it self I was thinking a more stock edit with maybe shorter build times and maybe some slighty modded ships. and 1500-2000k turns and if it the edit needs to be out there for a couple weeks before I don't see a problem in a 5000k game. these are my thoughts about an edit. tell me if theres anything you don't like. I would really like to see this game happen. So lets work together to get everyone on board.

There isn't a lot of difference between v1 and v2 IF the settings are right. There are a few bugs in v2, but nothing that would hinder the outcome of a game I don't believe. Then again I haven't played v2 enough yet to say that for sure. 1500 to 2k turns is perfect. Stock is fine and I agree with shortening the cit times by half or even 1/3rd. The edit wouldn't have to be released if it's close to stock. Personally I think 10k sectors makes a better game if there are more than 10 players in the game. Otherwise I'll find the opposition very quickly and the game will be very short. These are just my suggestions and take them for what they are worth.
