To curb 99% of unlims on my server turning stale I will be implementing certain End Game scenarios.

I told traders in specific games that after 30 days I would do this.

Things like... terra will not produce any more colos and ports will start decreasing their output.

This is not for all games... and will be announced at game start.

There is no use for games to sit idle while traders do nothing but buy down ore.

It would be interesting to find out what game settings lead to stalemate unlims. I've heard people say that the stock planets are too powerful, and/or the default planets per sector is too high. What else could be changed to keep the game moving?

1. No big bubbles
2. High attack odds ships/Low defense odds ships
3. An SO script that clears all sector figs/mines at extern, except in sectors with shielded planets (LOL)
4. Planets with low fuel capacity

None of them will keep a stalemate from happening but they will definitely keep people working their butts off to keep one going.

Dude, I don't care if you don't like me. I don't like you either. But, you are making very POOR sysop decisions.......by changing the F**KING EDIT after you start a game. That's a sysop NO NO. It is very frowned upon. If you don't change back the port production from the 50% you just make it to the 200% it was. I am going to announce on Classic TW and all the TW forums that you are an butt and make unannounced and inappropriate game changes during the game and after the fact. YOU SUCK butt! Just bang your stupid game and I or anyone else I can talk into staying away from your DUMBA$$ server WONT be back. You suck and you should never make fracking changes to an edit after is open. That is why UTW is what it is, and your server is the crap server that it is. UTW would never do that. Your making very POOR sysop decisions.

You Just F**KED UP! And, I am going to tell the world that you did this at the other teams request and that your not a fair and IMPARTIAL sysop. And no one should play on your SUCK butt server.

=======================

Other corps in this game knew about my 30 day plan. And no one else complained. Seems that no one told this guy after he came in late.

Yes, I know it's "Normally" bad form for an op to edit anything after bang, but this was announced at game start for this specific game. It was not an 'up for discussion' type thing. It was a plan for this edit. Players knew that edits would be made in game after 30 days. I wanted to try something different.. and I did.

I will make more of an effort to explain each games settings somewhere in bang notice or in game.

Easy solution.. Don't like the edit/rules. Don't play.

Eugene can go play on his own server.

Next game I will use some of the above ideas.. Lower planet ore caps and less colonists at start of game.

I will have to play with the bubble settings. Whenever I change the bubble sizes it seems to come out with orphaned sectors/bubbles.

Vic is right, you shouldnt change any settings without the approval of all the players in a game. And if you change them without everyone knowing about it before the game started they shouldn't be changed at all, unless every player agrees to the change.

You dont have to agree with that view but making the changes anyway will lose you players.

Do you have an ansi editor? I've found the easiest way to communicate with my players is with the announce.ans file specific to each game.

This way they don't have an excuse for not seeing your rules, they see them every time they log into the game.

Then again, if they log in once and never exit except to clear limpets, they may miss the -= Galactic Announcement =-

Just an idea...

As I said, I do not agree with changing Anything after bang. UNLESS, I announce (at game start) to the players that changes will be made after a certain time period. Both corps & everyone else that was there was informed. They did not have to agree, because it was not a question.
I am not going to go back on what I said I was going to do (that most players knew about) just because one cry baby is cussing, ranting & threatening that he is going to get the World not to play here. Those that were there at start and knew about the edit were playing for a 30 day game.

Trader Vic was cussing and degrading the server long before any of this ran through his little head. Calling me names along the route. He's lucky hes even playing on the server. He most likely wont be any longer. That will be perfectly fine with me.

The only thing I will do differently is make some form of permanent notification for these specific types of games so any late comers will be informed.

TheDraw can be run in windows XP or DosBox...
PabloDraw is a good editor for Windows...
http://ftp.synchro.net/resource:ansi_editors

I use notepad, but that requires an advanced understanding of ANSI...

I can use this to edit the announce.ans file for each game and the info will display when a trader enters each specific game?

If you posted this stuff in the Game Rebangs Forum before the game start, then hes going off over nothing. If you didn't....

If I didnt, I still dont care. No one (including this 50+ year old boy) will cuss me and degrade me and say the things he has said to me over a text based game and expect me to respond to his threats.

Everyone else in game understood.
Every other corp was playing for a 30 day game.
I'm not going to change everying I've said cause one big baby doesn't like what he see's. His ceo should have informed him of the rules Before he quit and Trader iCry took over the account.

Not everyone posts on these forums for game rebangs. Posting in game rebangs should not & is not a be all-end all form of communication (although probably the best we have).

I will work on this ansi file and anyone entering game should have time to read it.

Yes, just put the announce.ans file in each game folder. You can see how it looks on my server. I first saw it on Vid's and he told me how to do this.

Pablo Draw is the easiest one to use.

There's the problem: You don't know who's going to show up so you can't tell them. I don't think this is a real good idea.

And personally I don't think that it's a good idea to quote people who don't know they are about to be published, especially when they are angry.
