From Guardians Fament Site

Battle of the Elite

Background of BOTE

Moderator : Macahan
Host Server : Fament
Teams Registered : 15 ( 89 Players )
Team/Teams That was Favored to Win : Team Home Sector
Winning Team and Players : Team Nighthawk ( Nazwes , White Knight , Djasso , Cyberhawk , Saiyan , Halogen )
Second Place : Team Deep South
How Many Days did it Last : 206 Days ( Longest Tournament )
Games Logs : Collected by Guardian & Machan

Comments / Notes : Macahan has brought integrity back to the BOTE ...he kept good logs for the whole game and a good death list .

BOTE 1999 ( Feb. 15th - April 15th )

Moderator : Budweiser
Host Server : Outlaw BBS
Teams Registered : N/A
Team/Teams That was Favored to Win : Dominance Enterprises & Team Evolution

Co-Winners : Team Eclipse ( Space Ghost , Kavanagh , Mega Hertz , Kyp Duron and Wicked One )
How Many Days did it Last : N/A

Comments / Notes : Bad Moderating by Bud caused the game to not be ended correctly and caused the 2 big teams to argue who really won ..... Both Team Eclipse and Annex earned the right to be declared winners and lost out to find out who would have really won the game .... This is a good example not to allow a game get out of hand .... Very Poorly Run

Haunted Halloween Tournament

Background of HHT

HHT was created by Space Ghost . The game always starts on the 31st of October . HHT '99 was the last tournament to be done on the MBBS format ( Non-Twgs ) . HHT is a tournament death style game . Basically 5 deaths and you are out .... Winner is the last that is standing or till other corps have conceded .

Rules

Rules are moderately Strict .... There is no logging on others accounts , hacking or duping . Mega Corping isn't Allowed . Also no capping ships at SD ( MBBS Bug )

Last Game Settings

5000 Sectors , 4000 ports , Highly Edited Ships and Planets , 3 sec Photon , 4 hour Time-Limit , 1000 Turns , 2 day port regen , No Ship Delay , 5 Deaths & 6 Player Corps ( minimum 4 per corp. )

HHT 2000 ( OCT 31st - FEB 28th '01 )

Moderator : Space Ghost
Host Server : Intergate
Teams Registered : 13
Team/Teams That was Favored to Win : Team Hype ( Rolodex , Eleq , Cruncher , Zoobar , Prestone & Hellcat )
Winning Team and Players : Rebel Alliance ( Stonewall , Moldar , Devil Dog ,Oso , Chunky & Neo )
Second Place : Esoteric Alliance ( Ovid , Planet Hopper , Coale , Mega Hertz , White Knight , Bazarr )
How Many Days did it Last : 121 Days
Games Logs : Collected by Guardian( only 16 days )

Comments / Notes : Game went well ... Stardock couldn't be blocked with sectors edited with all exits going to sectors 1-10 .... which caused 6 black holes in the game . Game had to move from inmtergate cause the server was moving locations ... game was moved to home sector ... either during the move on servers or cause of changing beta's ... game kinda got corrupted letting one player into the game after he was killed ... SG closed the game and anouced the winner

HHT 1999 ( OCT 31st - Dec 3rd )

Moderator : Space Ghost
Host Server : Eclipse
Teams Registered : 17
Team/Teams That was Favored to Win : Black Knights
Winning Team and Players : Black Knights ( Maverick , Ripclaw , Hellcat , Lord Talon , Cruncher and Kujo )
How Many Days did it Last : 34 Days
Games Logs : Collected by Guardian ..... HHT'99.ZIP

Comments / Notes : Space Ghost did a great job keeping the tournament going and making sound judgments .... Everyone was keeping eye on him after the last major tournament ( BOTE '99 ) had some problems with moderation . Grazhoppa got banned for capping ships at SD . Also Jack Box was punished for being part of exchanging assets ..... Black Knights controlled the game from the moment it started and never looked back . Hellcat showed he could be a dominate killer if the figs were supplied ..... Black Knights always entered together .... Blues guarded the reds as they were cashing .

World Tradewars Championship

Background of WTC

WTC was created by EleqTriz'T ..... WTC is a Championship with limited rules and no death limit ... If you want to win this game , you have to dominate and destroy all hope for others before you can win this Championship . Moderator stays out of edit ( basically anything bad happens ... deal with it ) .

Rules

Basically there are none .... There is no logging on others accounts , hacking or duping . There is Mega Corping is allowed .

Last Game Settings

5000 Sectors , 4000 ports , Stock Ships and Planets , 1 sec Photon , No Time-Limit , 700 Turns , No Ship Delay , No Steal Delay & 6 Player Corps

WTC 2000 ( May 27th - Oct 31st )

Moderator : Eleq'Triz'T
Host Server : Home Sector
Teams Registered : 27 ( 146 Players ) ... The Most Reg'd for one Tournament
Team/Teams That was Favored to Win : Black Knights
Winning Team and Players : Good , Bad & Indifferent ( Guardian , Bad Girl , Peacemaker , Lady Ice , Mirkath , & Atog
Second Place : The Huns ( Attila , Morphous , Banano , Timberwolf , Tweety & Catholica
How Many Days did it Last : 157 Days ... Currently the Longest Game Ever
Games Logs : Collected by Guardian ... but had to stop after the game got too big ... WTC'00.zip

Comments / Notes : Game was a success and with mega corping and allowing to join other corps ... basically the best survives to the end and to win you have to literally beat all to submission or defeat . Only thing that needs to be added for next years is a death limit , time limit or both . Eleq did a great job ... Last Note .... Huns and GBI were tied and game probably would have went forever .... Huns decided to concede and give the game to GBI since they still had there orginial corp members

There's a lot of information that is missing there. I know because I was around during these years. You didn't add the USO which was hosted by Bad Girl. You stopped at the year 2000 and BOTE has been held numerous times after that year. You didn't add the ICE tournament which has ran for 5 years now. There was another major tournament called Lethal Lotto hosted by Jackel that ran for about 4 years in a row. First hand knowledge is always best.

I never said I played in any of those tourneys. I said I was around when all of those tournaments were held. I wasn't good enough to compete in tournaments back then, just as you aren't good enough to compete against the better corps today. I can remember some of what happened in the USO and could tell you about some of the controversy that happened in that tournament, but I probably won't. :P

So if you knew that BOTE, HHT, and USO were held after the year 2000 then why did you stop at that year?

Yep. He stopped when he retired pretty much right after the year 2000. If you weren't going to continue where he left off, you should have just posted the link to his site.

I remember this game very well. I played as a member of the Huns though I didn't originally start out with them. I was with another team to start but we got our arses kicked and they left, but I stuck around and later joined up with the Huns. It was a hard fought game and I had a lot of fun.

This game and one of the Big Games were pretty much the only tournament style games I played. I think I played in one USO and was out with my team in just a few days. The field was too tough - about 60 some players if not more. Back then I worked 3rd shift and extern was during my shift so it didn't take much for me to be found after being evicted from Fed Space along with everyone else that parked in fed overnight.

But this particular game was my favorite of all the games I've played. In fact, I think I still got my notes on that game on my old computer. If I do, I'll grab it and share it.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Helix.

Here is a B.O.T.E. History from RunawayProton's TW Site

RP wrote:

The first BOTE was held in 1998 and the FEN team dominated that first game , (check for yourself) until there was no one else left alive in it. And we're not talking about how FEN took someone's planets or something stupid like that. We're saying there was no one else left in a ship when you did the CLV. The team was CEO'd by Monday, consisted of Hosem, Cruncher, Maverik, Budweiser, and Macahan.

Zoobar and Maverik came up with the idea originally on a place called Keynet many many years ago, they had many late night battles where they would stay up photoning each other (Maverick usually nailed Zoobar 2.5 out of 3 times...(according to himself)). Then, several years ago they brought it up again on Fament one night. For the record Zoobar and Maverick came up with all the original rules and ideas of how they wanted the tournament to run, the requirements to get in, etc. etc. They then proposed the idea to Gypsy since he was (still is) one hell of a promoter, he had a web page which had a large viewing audience, and he also had access to a mbbs board.

Gypsy basically took it from there, doing all the publicity, he took care of the game settings and all the registrations, which worked out great since Zoobar and Maverik both wanted to play in it. Gypsy deserves a lot of credit, it probably wouldn't have happened without him, the idea and theory was Zoobar's and Mavericks.

Mavrik is not claiming ownership of some stupid tournament game. However, Maverick didn't want to see the idea of something which was supposed to be held sacred, above all other tourneys trashed by a couple people who just want to hold another tournament. The game was supposed to be an invitation only tournament to which any BBS who had TW could send a team of players representing their respective BBB's. How they came up with their team was totally up to the individual BBS, democracy, monarchy, no one really didn't care, just that each BBS only got to submit one team. It was originally by design supposed to be a tourney for the best of the best, where you weren't necessarily playing with the players of your corp, but where you united with your enemies to give your home board the honor and fame it deserved. This probably sounds pretty stupid, but it was supposed to be an honor thing, not many people get that anymore.
Now you have an idea what BOTE is and where it came from and why we are holding it annually.
