Well, I am once again a newbie and getting roasted by experienced players fairly fast. The game isn't TW, it is MW3 Call of Duty. I know the right of passage into most games is getting your butt kicked and I am seeing that. The difference between COD and TW is that TW seems to (or did) have players that will explain to newbies what they did wrong. COD seems too fast paced for much of that from what I have seen in my first two weeks. I need to get a headset so I can actually talk to the players and get tips - so they may be willing to help a poor newbie out provided they speak English (lot of different languages over chat). I think TW would benefit greatly if FedCom was voice rather than text. Much has been made of running newbies off in TW because of aggressive tactics and the V2.xx server had changes made to make the game easier for new/returning players. Somehow I don't see COD putting in things to slow the game down. Most newbies in COD don't get kill streaks going sufficient to drop a MOAB (kills all the enemy) or other air support. Not fair (lmao). Now for something that may or may not surprise people. COD is an excellent FPS and a lot of fun - but, somehow I don't see staying with the game as long as I played TW because, so far, I haven't seen a lot in the way of tactics/strategy - basically run around shoot the enemy (or camp out), get shot in the back, respawn and go again. Maybe it is my newbie perspective of COD (probably). I think my reflexes is a major problem on taking on the kids (under 35). Anyway, being a newbie again and playing on my first gaming console in many years has been fun so far. Graphics are amazing on the little 36" HDTV I am using, but I am doubting the game-in-a-box will hold my interest for 8 years as TW did this last time before I left the game. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Years. |

Good to see you back, Promethius. I just wanted to make one quick comment about voice usage in TW. Many players such as the GZ corp use TeamSpeak to communicate with each other by voice. That would not work for me though as I'm hearing impaired and like using the fedcom and subspace chat in the TW game as well as ICQ when I or a teammate is dead. My hearing impairment is why I don't bother to play shooter games online as part of a team as I would have to communicate with team mates by voice. So I play solo online in games like Starcraft. Anyways, welcome back and thanks for the comment |
