| Post subject: | Locked Topics |
Recently a few topics, that from what I read started out harmless, turned ugly and personal very quick. First of all I'm sorry I wasn't around earlier to nip them in the butt. Unfortunately it looks like we have a few mods missing in action. I have locked the threads in question after MULTIPLE users reporting / being reported. I commend those who tried to stay on topic, I have warned everyone that looks like they "started" the derail / smack / nastiness. I know we start to get cabin fever this time of year. I also know sometimes we have to blow off steam. It does not excuse some of us acting like kids. Lets keep the convo's productive. Shoot, make them heated...the only thing I ask is do not make mold them into personal attacks or circumvent the word filters. I don't need to give examples we are smart enough to play this game we are also smart enough to know what I'm referring to. -mob |

I think it comes down to pre-tournament smack. Some folks really want others to play a certain version in tournament. But yeah, as these things usually happen, some people get off-topic and out of line. So, we need to keep all smack over here => http://hyperspace.forums1.net/ |

I get that. I think we've gone over this before. YOU can have a heated debate, agree / disagree...but things get out of hand and it turns into hate fest 2012. |

The fact I did not catch it fast enough to keep the topics on point is a lack of mod in OD and I completely missed a week or so of visiting due to life. Darn life...can't live with you, can't live without you..lol |

Darn life...can't live with you, can't live without you..lol I think the mice came out to play "dirty" once they realized the cat was away. Hey life happens... nothing we can do about it. Keep up the good work! On my team, R/L always comes before a game. |

On my team, R/L always comes before a game. Mostly it was Comet and Helix attempting to get around the word filter, but you are the biggest culprit when it comes to derailing threads or turning a thread into smack talk. This post may be argumentive, but I'm pretty sure you aren't an innocent bystander here. There's almost always more to blame than one person in these cases, and several of us contributed in a 14 page thread, including you. After all, almost every thread that you post in gets moved to smack talk at Hyperspace by Oso. |

Its my fault it got that far I should have seen it before. Sometimes these things happen so quick if your gone for more then 2 days you've missed what seems like a month worth of postings. It's all settled now. Individuals have been warned. Others got the point once the topics were locked and I posted my feedback. We can all enjoy our post Thanksgiving coma's this weekend:) |

Well, it is possible to have a lively debate without resorting to personal attacks and the like. People can hate each others guts and still maintain a civil dialogue. I've seen divorced people do it, heck I've seen married people do it. Most everyone who posts on this site can do it. There are a few who can't and should. I will be more active in policing OD, but I should have been able to trust those who post here to keep it civil. It's like learning the hard way that my 12 year old can't be trusted to babysit his siblings. |

I might be completely off but I think he is referencing the community generalization vs. very specific individuals who consistently contribute towards what you're referencing in your response. I could be wrong or off base here but in other forum's Moderator's have the capacity to temp ban people, etc.. Even as small as this forum is I think rules without consequences are pointless. The fact that a Moderator (Helix) would consistently contribute towards the issue at hand is a double standard for the rest that would be "issued a warning". For whatever reason this forum attract's some seriously unchecked Ego's and Narcissistic personalities. IMHO it's partially accountable for the lack of new players who actually visit this forum. I guess this is all moot anyways since IMO this forum is a handful of players from being defunct anyways. |
