Just wanted to go people an update on Ice 9. We have regained power, but Internet is still down. It should be fixed today or tomorrow.

Excellent! But, how are you doing? What's been your biggest challenge? Do you need anything?

So glad to hear the power is being restored!

We are luckier than some. We lost power for about 72 hours, while about 1/3 of the island is still without. I work for the local public works department and have pretty much been working 12 hour days or longer since Wednesday. I have been humbled by people that live near the area I have been stationed have offered me food and money when they are still without power or heat (and lost many of their possessions due to flooding), just for letting them charge their phones.

Since I have been working so much, and our cable just came back today, I do not know what kind of national coverage the aftermath of Sandy is getting, but the lines for gasoline are ridiculous. I know people who have waited in line for over three hours to get gas. It is bad, but it is getting better.

Glad to hear your okay.

We got hit by the remnants --southern Ontario. I still remember the 72hour power outtage we suffered about 10yrs ago. Diriving 30minutes north of the City hoping to get Gas, not really having enough for a round trip... lugging large jugs of water up 18 flights of stairs with a candle... showering at work... the whole thing was a very surreal experience. Far as I can tell, the News coverage -here- has dwindled to nothing. Last News-bit I've seen/read-about, was the Benefit-Concert.

Well, there's still a lot of coverage about the devastation on the Jersey Shore, and more to come with the Nor'easter heading your way. It should hit the same area tomorrow night with 50-90 mph winds I think they are saying.

On top of that heavy wet snow is expected to be 6"-12". Buy gas, water, batteries, diapers.. etc.

I've seen reports that New Jersey has instituted an odd/even system for getting gas to help alleviate the long lines.
