Isn't it funny how when someone wins a game, simply because they are better at the game than someone else, that they are always labeled cheaters?

I suppose back in the beginning days of mankind that when that one intellegent caveman invented the wheel, he was a cheater too.

BTW, to whom it may concern. That wasn't really Helix that beat the crap out of you in game P at Trader Vics server, that was 3 members of Ground Zero. Next time don't leave the sector cannons off and the IG's on. LAFF

I've been playing on and off since the late 1980's and have heard that accusation many times. Sometimes it is down to cheating, but 99% or more of the time it is unusual tactics that wipe out opponents who do not understand what the ....... happened.

I wonder if that might be because you have the reputation of being a cheater, AND you actually admitted using a sub space crawler in that tournament. Most players do consider that cheating, and also most consider it a bug to even be able to use that method. I can see why you wouldn't consider it cheating however, since it is a very mild form of cheating compared to using tedit to help you win on your own server.

Is there a bug related to subspace crawling? I thought about using one, but I figured there's what, 65535 channels? I thought it was pretty unlikely to ever be listening to the right channel at the exact moment someone sends a message. But that was before I used MoMbot and saw how much crap it spams.

IMO, SS crawling is legit. If you're worried about it, encrypt your comms or send bot commands out of band (e.g., through IRC or ICQ). My helper will eventually be able to do one or both... although encryption strong enough to be useful is considered a weapon and can't be legally exported from the US. I suppose weak crypto would be useful if you changed keys frequently enough. Yeah... you could share a OTP at the beginning of a game and the helper could change keys automatically. Thanks for the idea, Big D!

I don't think that Helix actually did that, but I would agree that it would be legit. Either he or Sing explained what he had done and far from seeing anything wrong about it, I thought it was a great tactic and laughed my Butt off. Thats how he picked up the signature line he uses. I cant remember what it was that he did.

What he did was take advantage of a bug in mombot. It's all fixed now and the "all" command doesn't work anymore in most versions. I fixed mine myself. I also released a public "super" sub crawler script called "SSCS" that forced everyone to fix thier mombot script. Helix didn't like it when I did that. LAFF
As far as using tedit on his own server, I witnessed that 1st hand.

Not that this thread had anything to do with Helix until he derailed yet another thread. Unless he was one of the noobs that we whipped up on in game P on Trader Vics server. Bet he'd never admit it if it was. ROFL

Since Helix will say I never released it, I'll do it again

Here is the script, it takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to roll 60k subspace channels at .1 second for each channel. We (Boo, Inc) used it against the Unit, and the temp Unit CEO Stockton booted Kane from their corp. We used it against against Kraaken in HHT and it so demoralized them that the tourney was over in 7-10 days.

Code:
#SS Roller by Helix
send "'SS Roller active, comms off for 1 hour, 40 minutes*"
Send "CN"
setvar $i 1
while ($i <= 60000)
  Send "4" & $i & "*"
  killTrigger roll_delay
  setDelayTrigger roll_delay :roll_delay 10
  pause
  :roll_delay
  killTrigger roll_delay
  add $i 1
Send "'Kane are you sure this is the righ channel?*"
  end
send "QQ***"
send "C N 4 1*"
send "QQ***"
send "'SS Roller Run Complete, comms back on*"

halt

You should fix your proof, Cerne never played on Twisted TW so I couldn't have popped a planet and have you come invade it (so the thing to do is to change the planets creator to Helix, then repost it)

I have 2 sets of codes, 1 for Cerne and 1 for Helix. Just saying if you are going to lie about someone, make it a believable lie. Show some pride in your work. That manufactured screenshot is so poorly made.... I know you can do better.

Can't do it anymore in 2.18+ versions.... would have to check the actual release log for the exact version it was changed so that SS Crawling is not really an option anymore. Each time now you change SS there is a small delay, and if you are changing constantly the delay increases. So if someone really wanted to SS Crawl it would take much longer than it did in the past 1.03.

Plus the "ALL" command was from a year or two before using the daily log, then SS Crawling a couple tournies later. I was on the team that Helix used it against and while we were all paranoid, a couple I won't name were irrate about it. Even though one of them claims to have not been in the tournie. IIRC :)

I don't have to fix anything. I didn't say what name of the server was that this happened on. What I said was it was YOUR server. Which is a mute point anyway, because you WERE using both names at the same time, even in this forum. You lied about it for 6 months before we ridiculed you so much that you finally came clean. Everyone already knew that Helix = Cerne, so you figured why deny it, just like you should come clean about being a cheating sysop now.

BigD, point of note...

mute = someone that can't speak, or something you do to a TV
moot = irrelevant or obsolete

I think you meant the latter, not the former :)

Sorry, that's a pet peeve of mine.
