That's pretty cool. The original script war game was a game called "Core War". The concept originally appeared in Scientific American's Computer Recreations column back in the 1980's. Contestants would write battle programs that would run in a virtual computer core and try to detect and destroy enemy programs. Kind of like battling viruses.
