He's not supposed to be showing up at all. I hope that's left over from an earlier bang. I know there was a bug where he was active. But the game doesn't currently do anything with him.

My plans for the Pirates and for the new Fed, Captain Wilson, are to basically just let them wander around without doing much in the standard game, but then with special features enabled, they'll have a purpose. Blackbane will take on the roll of a Fed if you're flying in a red-only ship and you lose your eligibility for that ship. If you're in an ISS, a Fed will smack you down if you go evil. So if you're in a Red-only ship (once that's a possibility, it is coming), Blackbane will be the one who enforces the rules.

I'd like to use Captain Wilson to patrol the MSLs in realtime and keep them clear. I haven't decided if I want to do that as an in-game option or as part of a larger Botlink realtime Extern add-on.

Can you tell me which game you saw Blackbane in? I'm just wondering if it's a current bug that made him appear.

Yes It was a 92 million credit expirament... But in a unlimited 92 mill is about an hour of wsst... I had to find out... Classictw is the site subzero unedited last game on the list... U maybe...

Oh, well, that explains it. On ctw, he's enabled. I run the Botlink compile there, so all of the new extensions are active. But Blackbane still isn't going to do anything. Just sit there. I don't think he's even wired up to wander like the Feds yet.

Will we ever see the feds and pirates in the same sector launching fighters at each other?

Not under normal operation. There may be an add-on at some point that implements some kind of war between the feds and pirates. Sounds interesting. I don't intend for the pirates to go near Fedspace and they'll probably just avoid the feds if they meet them in deep space. But add-on authors will be able to override the behavior of the feds and pirates and do whatever they want.
