How do I connect my TWX Proxy to play Tradewars if I'm at the local Starbucks? Is it possible, legal?... Couldn't hook up while out running errands. Any help would be greatly appreciated, because i'm at Starbucks frequently these days with Laptop in hand! |

Hmmmmm, Interesting... to say the least. I understand your point, I'm interested in knowing if anybody has had the experience of being connected there, i KNOW i'm not the only one who has tried this. Thanks for the reply TOyman. |

If Starbucks is like McDonald's in that you first need to open your browser and click the button on the page to connect to the internet, then you need to do that first to start the internet connection. I've never been to Starbucks, but they should have a similar set up to hotels, restaurants, and other public wifi spots that starts with a splash page that requires you to click a button to connect to the internet. Once connected, you should good to go to play TW from your favorite program such as Zoc or TWX. |

I'll give it another shot today sometime. The last time I tried, I was actually at a Cancer treatment place here in California called "City of Hope", was there with a dear friend who had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer almost 2 years ago and thankfully, she is in the "All Clear" stage now! I had the laptop with me and had a little time to wait while she was being treated so I tried there to no avail, I hope the Starbucks connection will work, Thanks for the info! |

It's not uncommon for public hotspots to block everything except port 80 (HTTP) to browse the web, and hopefully port 443 (HTTPS) so you can check you bank account balance. They risk additional liability of they leave any other ports open. |

Just to let people know.... You don't need anything special to connect at Starbucks (I'm playing from there as I type this actually...) all you have to do with TWX Proxy, is make sure you "check" the box that asks about "Public Networks"... at least thats what I did and I'm playing a new game that just banged. And the Coffee is great (Venti, Caramel Machiatto, Hmmm GOOD! |
