Announcing HHT 2011 (The Space Ghost Tribute)

When: October 29, 2011 beginning at 7:30pm EST

Where: runawayproton.dyndns.org:223

TWA: Last years HHT edit will remain unchanged. I will not run any delays.

This will be run on Version 2.13 software, so make sure your set up for that version with whatever software you use.

This is a short notice game, but in honor of Space Ghost I don’t want to let the day go by without forming up this game. Anybody is invited to play, individual or team.

A couple of the bigger permacorps have said they will no be in attendance for this game, so it’s a chance for some of the newer players to strut their stuff, and some of the older players to see if the WD40 has had a chance to penetrate the rust yet.

ANY questions or concerns should be posted here.
See you on Halloween!

With many many many creative edits to both settings and Normal Game Ansi's including various edits to in game menu's. I've given Team Kraaken their own practice game on the Classic Server And my team Also has a private game on the server.

If you would like to play please contact Singularity or Myself.(I believe Team Kraaken is Full)..It doesnt matter if you think i don't like you or if you dont like me. Everyone is invited to participate.Training and Scriipts needed Will be provided !!

The rules have already been worked out between Responsible Parties but basically No Buy Outs and No playing more then 1 account and No Substitions once Game starts...Further No IP proxys that arent yours. You may play under multiple IP's as long as they are YOUR ip's.

Game Start Friday October 29th at 7:30pm Eastern.

Some changes were made to the original edit considering the new version, and the number of players expected to play...

Here's a list of changes I've made, keeping in mind the game is more individual than corp, and we have new toys (settings) to play with we didn't before.

1. 3 man corp (individual player game)
2. 10 death limit
3. 3 hour time limit
4. 3000 turns per day, 3 day time bank
5. 3 Planets per sector
6. Startup Asset Dropoff is 10 meaning you come into the game with 10% less startup assets after each death (if I'm reading this correct)
7. 5 Minute minimum login time (Bot logs in for 30 seconds you loose 5 minutes of play time)
8. Latency will be leveled at 150ms to allow each player the same ping. (unless you have a real slow connection)
9. No Delays

We will also abide by some of the original rules set by SG last year.

I think the 1 team vs 1 team rule is different this year, right? This is more of an anyone can play situation?

My opinion is if an individual want to play against a team let them play. I'm not sure how this was done in the past but due to the short time I don't think restricting players is a good idea.

I think the "just like last year" isn't really realistic. Last year was two huge teams. That's not what this tourney will be about. This is an anyone-can-play, so single player, smaller corps, whatever. Am I right?

You'ld think I'd learn by now, that jumping on board with an existing set of rules is a bad idea, as there are ALWAYS changes. So you're right, changes I guess are in order.

Sofar I hear of three individuals wanting to play and all are open to time limits.

Here's a list of changes I've made, keeping in mind the game is more individual than corp, and we have new toys (settings) to play with we didn't before.

1. 1 man corp (individual player game)
2. 10 death limit

7. 5 Minute minimum login time (Bot logs in for 30 seconds you loose 5 minutes of play time)
8. Latency will be leveled at 150ms to allow each player the same ping. (unless you have a real slow connection)
9. No Delays

Any other changes we should consider?

From what I understand everyone was on one of two corps. Last year I beleive it was 15 players each. I've also heard from some players that they were simply a bot/dupe login, most, if not all of their turns were botted by others.

So, now we're going to the opposite extreme of single players?

Maybe we should do a draft?

Last I counted I had 3 interested persons. How are we going to make "teams" of that? This is why I said singles. But if we have the numbers, and you want teams, I'm flexable as I keep saying.

You guys said put it up, so I did, but I need your input as to what you want. I'm grabbing at straws here.

Well, we are hoping for more than three. Most players that read this forum and Facebook are the silent type, and won't post.

I believe the original game was 1000 turns x 15 players on a corp = 15,000 turns a day. Single player might need a few more than 1000 turns a day in a 30K universe or this has the possibility to look more like a building game. I am not saying to up to the max of 15K, but 3K per corp would be nice.

Examples:
Corp size of
1 = 3000 per
2 = 1500 per
3 = 1000 per

Just a thought, and is this a fight to the end or a end date of 30 days? Scoring?

Well, if they don't speak up, we won't know what they want to play. I'm struggling here to offer what you want.

Another good point. I'd not considered this but once again the argument has come to light of teams or individuals. I don't care, but we need to figure it out soon. I'll adjust the sector count once we figure out about how many are playing.

It doesn't matter to me. What's the tradition for HHT?

Traditionaly two large teams so it's a battle to win.

Once I get some new rating formulas in, it'll be easier to have a set date and declare a winner. Right now, it's hard to declare a winner after a set number of days. You can do it with some server scripts.

What about doing a "last man on the hill", where you designate a particular group of sectors as "the hill", and the player or team controlling that space at N days is declared the winner?
