What players were considered the best of their day? Reds, blues, hunter/killers? What were the corp names?

I know some that I have played against in unlims that I thought were very good:

Uncle Sam
Freejack
Angus Thermopyle
Alexio & Damage Unlimited
Res Judicata
Banano <sp>

Who would be the "Hall of Fame"?

Ah Banano! Such a great guy.
I'd like to add River Rat and Stonewall to that list.

I played in games with Res , Alexio and I think Banano. Against Res and Alexio all but once. Both fine players, Res by far one of the best I have ever met. Banano I remember the name, but thats it.

If Res shone playing unlims, that really speaks to his prowess - he never used scripts that I know of, but had a really kickass lineup of macros linked to hotkeys; even had a template/mask on his keyboard (or maybe display)to identify them, and played them like a violin virtuoso.

hELLCAT was also a demon macro player, corp named Virii.
Zoobar a very dangerous opponent, corp Rogue Nation. Introduced me to Telix.
Cowboy and Adomma, corp 2nd to None.
Tweety of Boo! inc

No need to mention Eleq... or many others.

Why not? Not everyone knows these retired players.

Definitely Eleq and Guardian.

I played with him and against him several times. He was inclined to talk the talk : )

He was a better player than I am (not difficult), but his talent was really TW politics. He was passionately interested in the game and did much to advance it and maintain interest in it. For that he deserves to be called great.

That had not crossed my mind.

Both for certain, very fine players and honorable to a fault.

Peacemaker, likewise. Mega Hertze and Traitor - great reds and CEO's both, sneaky, dissembling, crafty - all great TW attributes. Again, both honorable and sportsmen.

Nazwes Chaiwind, who created and hosted TWGS.ORG when yahoo spammed the egroup with commercials, in addition to being a very devious, smart, crafty TW player and a great corpie.

Medusa, a founding member of Boo! inc, who had been a corpie of SG for several years before that even. Hugely underrated as a player, for the simple reason that she never, ever, posted to the original BBS boards, to the egroups, to the yahoo groups, or even here except to share a few memories after SG passed. Med could play red or blue, usually blue.

Steel Magnolia who played until '07 or so, by hand, and delighted in (successfully) screwing up scripters.

The_Brain of Boo! inc

CBS228 who headed "Fugitives from Fate" or somesuch, and wrote a suite of TW applescripts for MAC (I have them somewhere I think, with his permission to release them if anyone interested).

The Mad Hatter. A TW friend of long standing, longer than SG even, who started playing in the 1980's even before I did. He wrote many add ons for TW way back when, including an expander to 20K sectors in the early nineties.

Kurt's spirit aka Lord Talon.

More too many to mention, the above just some that I played with/against that I remember.

I've got to get in touch with Eje. I haven't had access to update that web site since around 2006.

Yeah, I've mentioned it to him, he said he'd set my password up again. Neither one of us has followed up. Hehe..

I just got lazy and starting the blog was the fastest and easiest way to post notifications that I can then easily cc to facebook and twitter.
