It is. Whatever happened earlier, I lost my ability to connect to the server via remote desktop. I tried to reset the server, but so far have not had any luck. I'm working on getting it back up. Sorry! |

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who was on when the server crashed. I've heard that Game A wouldn't start. Was anyone having problems starting other games? Did you get a "Game failed to start" message, or did it just lock up? |

It came up again last night, after I went to bed naturally Any idea what caused the crash and do you need us to try to recreate circumstances? |

Did you get a "Game failed to start" message, or did it just lock up? I was'nt on when it crashed, but tried connecting several times. here is what i got: TradeWars Game Server Copyright (C) EIS TWGS v2.05 http://www.eisonline.com Server registered to EIS TradeWars Server Supports up to 25 games and 100 nodes <A> ClassicTW Stock <B> JP Test Game <C> Sandbox Game <D> Test RLogin <F> LEGION Beta <H> HHT 2010 Replay <L> SubZero <M> SubZero (unmodified) <O> Sing's Timing Tests <R> Stress Test <#> Players Online <!> View game descriptions <Q> Quit Selection (? for menu) : AFailed to start game session... Connection lost. I tried Telix, Zoc, and Qmodem, with and without TWX, just in case I was doing something dumb (never happens of course, but confess had been at the beer and feeling no pain), all same and finally from msdos command line. ElderProphet managed to connect to the server and reboot it. He said the CPU was pegged at 100%. I don't know yet whether the runaway app was TWGS-related, but anytime you have an app taking 100% CPU, you'll start seeing games failing to start. The server appears to be having the same problem right now, so I'm trying to connect and investigate. I added some failsafe code last night so the server won't continue to open abandoned TW2002 processes when it's failing like this. There were over 1000 failed attempts to open TW2002 yesterday, and I'm sure the task list was full of TW2002 processes. That shouldn't happen now. Instead, if a game fails to start 4 times in a row, it'll be set to deactive until the op can come in and investigate. I see that several games are now inactive, so that's definitely working. Ok, I was able to log in and check the task list and it is TWGS that's taking up CPU. So I'm going to watch the server a bit and see if I can figure out why. |

Do you want me to continue to run the relogger? I have to leave shortly, can turn it off before I leave. *Edit* OK gotta run, keeping relogger running.. if you need to boot me off the server. |

I want you to do whatever you would normally do. I need TWGS to be able to handle a meltdown like this without crashing the entire server like it did yesterday. When bots will keep entering a game that's erroring out, TWGS could get completely snowed under with TW2002 processes. Now it won't do that, so you can relog all you want. |

If you want, I can create multiple logins and really blast it. But, it's down again now. Let me know when you get this fixed again and want to try a dozen or so auto-dialers. I'd really like to see this handle at least 50 at once. Attempting to connect to: twgs.classictw.com:23 Connection accepted Connection lost. Crosby wrote: Yeah..guess B is over too? I can't even check on a game...i keep getting: Failed to start game session...Disconnected... They have been having server problems for a few days. JP explains it up a few posts. 30 mins ago, there were about 8 games showing, now its only showing 4. I believe he did something to temporary remove them from the menu if too many failed attempts to connect occurred. It was pegging the server or something like that....lol John Pritchett wrote: I added some failsafe code last night so the server won't continue to open abandoned TW2002 processes when it's failing like this.
