 Re: servers
thanks ur server list is the most accurate atm, i do have an issue with several servers having delayed comand or sluggish response. i was trying abyss (used to game there) but its horrid slow as well as Lake travis Bum it seems to take forever for the game to accept commands on those. has something changed since i been away?

 Re: servers
A lot of the work I've been doing on the new version is optimizing and controlling server load. Hopefully once it's out it'll improve the performance one some of these sites.

 Re: servers
There's something terribly wrong with the two servers Frugal mentioned. I don't think it is a TWGS problem though. It's like your connected with a 300 baud modem.

 Re: servers
Well yeh, you can't join late and expect to get anywhere if the other players want to keep you out. There's a phase parity thing, if your enemy has mobile planets then you need mobile planets, if your enemy has big planets full of ore then you need big ore planets, if your enemy just has a few ships full of figs then you need a few ships full of figs, etc.
If you go in without any figs, and are up against big ore planets, what chance do you really have if someone wants to keep you out? I mean sometimes you can find someone asleep at the wheel and break in, but that's basically letting you in.
The most important skill a new player can learn is how to pick the right games.
If you're still having lag problems, it could be that the server is overloaded, or it could be your ping. What in-game ping do you get? What's your ICMP tracert look like to those servers? Changes to the games pacing will help the overloaded aspect a little bit, assuming the overload isn't coming from outside of TWGS (other servers, or someone using the machine), it won't help w/ a bad route tho.

 Re: servers
i am the Sysop of Distinct Tradewars (long since closed) ur name looks familair singularity. and a few others here are still around. however RL took the ability for me to keep my server running. alot has changed, i remember wehn every 4days utw and another (i think data ran it) or possibly u used to rebang the 3day truce games regularly. just looking to reminisce on old times and have some fun as i said ill wait for something appealing to rebang. im goofin off refreshing myself in ycity but i think that game has been over for a while it banged on 5/6/11 so i doubt its still active

They used to bang a lot of truces, and everyone would die right after the truce ran. I didn't play much on either, tho. Not a big fan of truces. When the beta comes out, I have a script for auto-rebanging games. If JP adds the scheduled open capability, that would doubly rock. I could rebang and re-open on a set schedule very easily.

 Re: servers
true ppl died always within day 1 of truce end however those truce games were usually the games with the most players and corps at that time. seems to have shifted more to turn based games again.

 Re: servers
Ryan re-booted his server last night, and now Lake Travis Bum seems to be runnning much faster.
