Obviously it's not dead. I just did a password reset on my old account (12686191).

Wow, it remembers all my old contacts from 8 years ago. The Reverend is the only one that appears to still be active though.

I bring it up now and then. SG was the last person I used it regularly with :(

The forumn IQC link goes to a search page, but it doesn't fill in the search form correctly. Probably better to just link to the profile (i.e. http://www.icq.com/people/12686191/).

This new ICQ sucks! It's very slow, and has locked up on me 6 times since I downloaded it. I liked the old version. I'm gonna give Trillian a try. Trillian can connect to all you IMs (i.e. ICQ, MSN, Google, Yahoo, facebook, MySpace, etc...), and it supports Windows, MAC, iPhone, Android and Blackberry.

BTW, thanks to your post, I just hooked up with a Very good old friend, and former Sysop, CyBeRWeaSaL! We have been looking for each other for 10 years, and both gave up, so thanks a million.

JP, can you add facebook to the user profiles?

I use Pidgin for ICQ. It's light weight, supports multiple protocols, works across multiple platforms, is free, and generally sucks a lot less than other icq clients.

So far I love Trillian. I was impressed enough to buy the Pro upgrade, and the iPhone app.
