Hate to bring up a potentially sore topic.. But I'm hoping & praying that the US GOV doesn't shut down tomorrow. Especially because I'll be in California on the 9th, heh. But seriously. Figners crossed that Congress makes the hard choices. |

But seriously. Figners crossed that Congress makes the hard choices. TSA and Air Traffic Control will be operating as usual so travel should not be affected, but yea this needs sorted out fast. |

The general public will have to take program cuts, and commerce/wealthy can't expect any tax cuts. The people on the hill are playing with fire and everyone is going to get burned. I've heard a lot of people say that a government shut down will save us money, however that can't be farther from the truth. Any governement shut down will cost billions, and the longer it goes, the worse it will get. If it goes more than 2 weeks, it could actually bankrupt this country. Almost every aspect of travel will be effected especially overseas travel. There will be no addictional tax refunds sent out after the 8th, however you must still pay your taxes on time or expect large penalties. Very few public transportation services will be available. 80% of the governement agencies will be shut down with the exception of public safety and defense agencies. You won't be able to contact most governement agencies. Social Security checks will be processed, but that's about it. Now that will be a lot of people effected either directly or indirectly. Edit: BTW, now it's not a question of are they going to shut down, it's a question of how long are they going to be shut down for. |

Or we can just stop giving billions in tax dollars to large companies and cut back our offensive military operations. Defense is fine, but the cost of our decade of war has been enormous.
