 Threads being locked
Sigh! All the threads getting locked is frustrating. This is a war game and there is going to be words said. Even if there is no smack talk. The two threads that got locked were hardly out of hand.

 Re: Threads being locked
I dont understand why we dont have a new smack forum yet.
It's kinda like everyone is being punished for the actions of a few.
Wont be hard to to create an Opt In section will it??

Ban the ones that get out of hand, although I am not a huge fan of the smack area I think there needs to be one. But I am one of the few that thinks it needs some sort of rules/guidelines.

 Re: Threads being locked
Open discussion is a place for civil discussion of general TW-related topics. Personal gripes between players, attacks on other players, or generally uncivil behavior does not belong in OD. If you wouldn't say it to your grandmother, then you should not say it in OD.
I'll ask JP what he thinks about a smack forum. Maybe we can figure something out.

Flame wars and Smack have always been a part of this game, it is a war game and physiological warfare can be just as important as good game strategy. Opt-In or Opt-Out either way works. Smack isn’t for everyone, but it can be very, very funny to read sometimes.

 Re: Threads being locked
I dont think there is any place on a game forum for a smack area. It fosters just the kind of attitude that seems to be rampant in this community. And its that attitude that makes me feel like i do not want to be part of this community.
When a post breaks the rules it should be removed, leaving the thread intact. The offending poster should be cautioned and then banned if necessary.
I cant understand why you think its ok to flame each other.. let alone having an area specifically meant for it.
I understand that the general age of the people in this community are older.. 30 - 70 yrs.. You should be setting an example.. not acting like a bunch of thugs..
You are losing people and i dont think its the game. I think its the attitude. I know it is for me.

 Re: Threads being locked
Exactly why the smack area should be for those who Want to be associated with it.. -- Opt IN --
If you don't want to read, see or hear about it. You don't have to.
By far, the greater portion of the community wants a smack forum.
For those who do not want to be part of it.. don't opt in.. Easy.
If we eventually get one back, great. If not, then just one less reason to visit here for those who want it.

Look at the vote thread. according to that, the greater portion of the community couldnt be bothered to post an opinion. The actual count from that thread is 10 - Moderated Smack 5 - Smack 1 - No Smack So no, the greater portion of the community doesn't want smack back. But I guess the most vocal portion of the community does. +40 posts in the thread, with only 16 votes. H

15 to 1 looks to me slighty towards wanting smack back.

Muss wrote: unfortunately, that is most of the community that actually plays regularly. 16 members out of 1600 members who have actually posted on the forums, so no, that is incorrect also. Only 1% of them even cared enough to vote about it. So should we cater to the less than 1%? H

 Re: Threads being locked
lol like i said... unfortunately the actual count of the community is Much-Much closer to 16 than 1600.
I find it funny you think that the community is based on the number of aliases that have logged onto this site in the past decade.
Even back in the day before you knew what TW was there was nothing close to 1600 people that played on a regular basis.
True, everyone who plays does not own an account here and everyone that plays could care less about posting on this site, joining this site or even want a smack forum.
but from who Ive talked to and what Ive seen on this site..
"By far, the greater portion of the community wants a smack forum."

 Re: Threads being locked
Im not saying that we need a free for all smack thread where anything goes.
just something that allows more 'discussion' more than Open Discussion.
