im just wondering if since the Auther stated to you that it was part of the game. If you still Belive in the things you have posted in the past about the actions. Or is it a case that the Authers Veiw on the Matter has changed how you feel about the morals of the players who do such things and i was wondering about the corralation between the two. RE Is one dependent on the other? Does the authers View of *other* things like say...Riding the Shields of a planet.. Change how you feel about the in game actions of players doing so? Big D wrote: I'm also saying that IS cheating and only the lowest form of TW player would actually do it. |

I do believe that it was stated by the current owner of the software that ss crawling was now considered fair play. I, too, would have thought it was a cheat tactic until I was told by the designer that it was not. Therefor, the rules have been changed. 2cents. |

Well does this apply to other aspects of the game that the Auther says is Bug Use? ie Riding the Shields of a Planet? Amoung MANY MANY other Tactics that Players in Todays Game use that the Auther Doesnt Agree with and considers them as BUGS. Are the players who use these widely accepted Tactics Now Cheaters becuase of the Views of the Auther? It's a pretty fair Question don't you think? |

I stand by my statements, JP has his reasons for saying what he says but he is not a player in the game therefore I won't change my mind. I will not play on a corp that is using one either. If I find I am on a corp that is using a SS crawler or sniffer searching for a SS channel to gain a tactical advantage I will leave that game. No hard feelings towards anyone that is using or not I just prefer not to be part of it, freedom of choice and I choose to say "NO". |

My views are that the topic was brought up as a suggestion to change the game to not allow subspace crawling. The author said that this is a viable tactic and that it would not be changed, so now I consider it part of the game and something that remain part of the game. I will use whatever tactics that I feel my competition will use,. Now if it is generally accepted that subspace crawling is wrong, then I would comply, but that isn't the case, so I will use this tactic in the future. Thanks for asking. |

Big D wrote: I will use whatever tactics that I feel my competition will use. Gotcha....[/quote] Personally what the author feels is a bug has no relationship to what the players feel is a bug. This is no disrespect to the programmer, but it is the community that has evolved the game and has indicated what they feel are bugs. Planet riding is a valid method of play, and probably so is SS crawling (gathering intelligence). Was planet riding or SS crawling part of the original concept of game play? Probably not, but that really doesn't matter. Is a corporate killer tactic or megacorpinig a bug, no, but it is frowned upon by, IMHO, most people. The game is pretty much anything goes as long as the server rules are followed. If the TWGS doesn't prevent a tactic, and no server rule against it in effect, then the player should have thought of it first and implemented it. That seems to be the biggest issue I see - someone else thought/did it first. It is a game of war, there is no "fair". |

I cant believe that this is a matter for debate. I really feel that I am in the Twilight Zone. This has been a legitimate tactic as far back as I can remember. It actually used be more common, when there were fewer ss channels. |

It actually used be more common, when there were fewer ss channels. It really isn't being debated right now. Back in HHT, we screwed around with a burster to send a message to every SS. Why? To screw up enemy coordination during their red setup. And it worked, it had them in such a panic that I was able to find their reds and torp them on day 1. Now, big D, who moaned and complained about how it was cheating, and how HE'd never use such a tactic, ever, has decided to use the tactic after-all. |

The Question is about the Change in Viewpoint from BigD wrote: I'm also saying that IS cheating and only the lowest form of TW player would actually do it. As a bright Shinning Example BigD and others have shown.......... Time Tells ALL Tales. |
