Just now on Ice-9 I got caught-up in some sort of crazy loop that resulted in my self destruction "after" it posted to the logs a copy of my last post to Big D that must have been still on my clipboard!

When I'm playing, particularly when I'm doing my citadel upgrades I'll frequently ALT Tab between the game and my notes.

This time I must have done an ALT Q - TWGS running Mombot was not.

Sector Autoreturn

For games with 5,000 sectors or less, the main command prompt can
automatically return when an unambiguous sector (600+) has been entered.
For example, sector 600 is unambiguous because 6000 is an invalid sector.
It can therefore be entered in 3 digits. Sector 401 could be 401 or 4010,
and therefore requires all 4 digits. This behavior is enabled by default.

When Sector Autoreturn is disabled, a carriage return is always required
when entering a sector at the command prompt.

The Ferrengi are a greedy, cowardly group. Their primary purpose
is the speedy acquisition of money. They will steal from anyone
no matter what the person's or corporation's alignment. They
seldom engage in face-to-face combat because they prefer the
advantage of surprise when ambushing their opponent. They often
travel in groups and will spy on promising territory. After
targeting an area, they will raid the sector when it is least
defended. If they are attacked, that group will hold a grudge
against the attacker and they will not rest until they feel the

It looks like you pasted the entire post into your helper screen. That happens. It's also very easy to be sending a message via fed/sub space and have scripts like saveme, citkill, ptorp, etc. send an update message while you are typing that message and part the message ends up as game commands or giving away vital information over fed com. I usually kill all scripts before sending messages over fed com. Of course that can still be a problem if you happen to get botted during a conversation over fed.

Why is this is in the beta section? You messed up and pasted something where it shouldn't be, it basically sent a large macro and the end result:

Ok u had a script error....It happens.

Fix your script...use a self protection trigger or both

As far as Fedcomm smacking..I use the Swath comm window which sends the smack in a burst

I was curious if you were notifying Microsoft and your Computer Manufacturer as well, since it could have been a potential problem with the OS or Computer hardware and affect millions of people causing serious loss of data or personal damage? Just Say'n ;)

Alt Q wont do a thing either in game or thru basic bot....You had other things going on.

Swath or Zoc triggers or something else. Combined with flapping on fed and bad macro buffering u ended up with a cby.

1)Scripts can have safeties built in...Macros have to have buffered safties which are tough to find.

2)Use a cby prevention script of some sort.

3) use Swath comm window to flap you mouth on fed.


Accidental cby hasnt happened to me in many years outside of testing new scripts.


Mombot mac command has no cby protection either and needs to be rewritten by a mombot fan.

Just relax....You will be back in the game shortly with a lesson learned

That’s why I originally posted to the beta forum. I was doing absolutely nothing in the game, no scripts running, just Zoc/TWX to connect to the game. I was sitting at the command prompt after just lifting from a planet.

I hit what I thought was Alt tab to look at my citadel upgrade notes when that loop of events followed by a cby happened. I can only assume I hit Alt Q by mistake.

The scripts are independant programs, NOT the game.

I have no problem being #SD# when it's a part of the game. What happened had nothing to do with playing the game. It was a programing glitch. I just wanted to know which program "glitched" :)
