Parrothead wrote: Little point until software is fixed I would think. From what I've read and recall, the last stable release is TWGS10300. Our site has TWGS10409, which is the same as TWGS10300 except it has the following changes: * can rebang, add games while server is running * settings from global moved to local, making it nice to have settings per game. * bloating mail issue fixed- no longer using the twmail.dat file as mail for each player slot now individual. * additions to the remote admin From what my wife and I have seen with running this version for the last few months, it functions the same as when we ran TWGS10300. There was no changes to the internal game mechanics; that is to say whatever "bugs or issues" existed in that version still exist in ours. No delays were added, nothing changed, and we don't have the issues that the current "beta version" may have. Our games are rebanged on schedules, no issues or crashes here at all. At least we can continue to host our games quite fine and effectively as we always have. Other sysops can always roll-back to the last stable release if they are running a beta version, and games can be hosted as they always have. Then we just have to wait until the issues are sorted out.

 Re: hosting everyday Games.
I was referring to the Beta server announcement that "everyday" games were being banged. I suggest it just be taken down for now.

What ever power games amuse you please ENJOY! However the software "as is" is not worth the time to test further. Therefore its purpose as a vehicle to test the beta software is worthless and without purpose

BTW my server isnt due to start up till 11/10 and JP will have that issue fixed by then....Cheers!

While i will be running what ever Beta Release JP puts out, just like the other Sysops on the other Servers. I am not the "BETA" server . that was a different place that Cruncher ran.....My server is NOT that server. Cruncher is NOT a SYSOP at twgs.ClassicTW.com . Cheers!

 Re: hosting everyday Games.
"Cruncher" was not mentioed. We were under the impression that http://www.classictw.com belonged to JP and it was JP's server to be used to test the software for his benefit as well as the community. That turny's would be held there to avoid drama from various quarters. If it's "your" server then why isn't it on "spaceghost.com" I am confused.

If it's "your" server then why isn't it on "spaceghost.com" I am confused. no reason to be confused the server is a commercially hosted server that *I* pay for and have used for tournys.....ive used Elderprophet to secure the server to ensure that i didnt have access to the server during the tournaments......(As noted ive lost all of those tournies except the last.) Jp 's server was run by Cruncher and it was the "BETA" Server. The Official Classic TWGS server is courtesy of JP in that he provided the Software and has asked me to make sure a "Classic" game is open to the public. http://www.classictw.com Does belong to JP. twgs.classictw.com does not. JP has provided its official stamp and the software in exchange for my services there and here. Cheers!

If it's "your" server then why isn't it on "spaceghost.com" I am confused. Let me see if I can help clarify. http://www.classictw.com is the EIS server and is running the Beta Wide release. SG is the sysop there. twgs.21-6.com:23 is the Beta Test server. Anything JP needs us to test will show up there. I am the GAMEop there. I can only reset, open, close and edit existing games, I cannot upload new TWA's or software. This is where the early beta was first released, tested and tweeked. JP is the only one with sysop access. I know Helix is also a Gameop here, and maybe a few others as well.

 Re: hosting everyday Games.
Well I for one find it confusing. And Cruncher (from her posts) doesn't appear to know how to play anymore so her value in testing is moot. But my apologies for not knowing the whole long sorted affair on how this came about.Whatever little "tags" are needed to prop up everyone's ego is fine by me.Enjoy!

The way I play, the game works just fine for me. I've not spent the last 8-9 years disecting this game to the n'th degree and writting scripts to play the game for me. What's why I'm here, I simply cannot stress the software like you guys can.

 Re: hosting everyday Games.
If you cant stress the software then what is your purpose in testing?

 Re: hosting everyday Games.
Parrothead wrote: If you cant stress the software then what is your purpose in testing? JP asked me to gameop. Seems the beta server wasn't getting much action before I came onboard. We asked nicely, no one was interested, the games were stock, no one wanted change. I came on, ran some of "your" more popular edits and a couple of my own, and generally made myself a PITA and Helix insisted on his own game, Timberwolf wanted one too. Then the beta server got some action. Finally JP increased the universe to 30k and that finally got some attention. Kraaken came to test and tweek their scripts, Stein came to update Swath.
