 Player inactivity
I've noticed many servers have kept the default 30 days for players to be inactive from a game before being deleted.
I think 14 days is more than adequate. This will clean up CLV's quicker among other reasons for wanting a shorter time period for inactivity.
Something to think about.

 Re: Player inactivity
Some sysops like to keep the inactive players in the games because it looks better in the stats at the stardock. heh

 Re: Player inactivity
One server not to be named uses 365 for that very reason.

 Re: Player inactivity
Like the amount of players on a server would attract me to it. Right. The edits are what attracts me to a server initially and if I like it, I'll stay there. So far I like Ice and will remain there even though it has mostly TK bots on it So the amount of players on a CLV has no bearing on whether or not I decide to play there. Again, 14 days is a good figure. If a player cannot play 14 days, he's most likely done anyways. This will allow teams with an AWOL CEO to replace him sooner than later as well. A good example is Game W at Ice. Corp 2 there had a CEO that was AWOL for a month. They waited much longer than they should have before that CEO finally got deleted from the game, allowing a teammate with the highest ranking to be promoted to CEO., then asking another player to join the game. Had that game had a 14 day inactivity period, that CEO would be deleted sooner and his replacement could have joined the corp sooner than later. That's why I like the 14 day period. Toyman,...365 days??? Darn..that has to make for one long CLV with a lot of MC's and #SD#'s on the list. And that is exactly my point.

I agree and that is why I use 30, I would use 14 but the typical building game can last 6 months to a year and some people take vacations. Plus if after 14 days a corp made a request and all attempts have failed to contact the individual I would intervene and remove the CEO if they had a prospect ready to join. Plus there are other ways to get rid of CEO that has gone MIA, claim all assets personal, create a new corp and then others join up. Waiting 30 days with no contact from a CEO, bah I would have removed him one way or the other.

 Re: Player inactivity
Point taken, Toyman. I think tournament style games should use a shorter period such as 14 days. I thought I played in the WTC one year that had only 7.
And that's a good idea to ask a game op to delete a CEO if he has gone AWOL with no contact.
So, yeah, I guess 30 is good, given the fact that people do take vacations and come back.
Like Pig said, all depends on the type of game played.

Timber,
Inactivity is a global game setting. I learned the hard way during the great accidental deletion of '07.

Thanks for letting me know. I didn't realize that. It was the first time I ran the Solo Game, had a requirement that people had to log in at least every 3 days or get deleted, and since the game setting was global... ooops. Luckily, I do not think any corps got deleted completely.

No worries anymore V'Ger. The setting is now local.

 Re: Player inactivity
Good to know.
Then a sysop can have a tournament style game with like a 14 day inactivity...along with a noob building game on the same server with 30 days.
I thought it was global all along too..but I really didn't try it out yet as I rebang my games on my local machine a lot for script testing.
