Are you collecting data from all players so you can xploit them??? you script kiddie Any time you connect to any website, it gets your IP address. If that's enough to compromise your security, then you have serious problems. Take this, for instance: http://www.navhaz.com/who_am_i.php That will print a few of your headers back to you. It's all public info. |

Yes i'm quite aware of everything, because i'm a system administrator. Somebody is collecting data, and we don't know why. Sites like that are geared for one of two things. 1) Malicious intent (they intend to hack you or worse) 2) Advertisements its certainly not built for my information, because we already know our own info (at least we hope you do). Helix has been added to 'Foe' list as suggested by somebody else. So hopefully his crap wont show up anymore. |

I could just as easily put an invisible pixel in my sig file and collect data too, except you'd never know about it. The only difference is that in this case you know someone's looking at your IP, how is that any different? scolfax wrote: 1) Malicious intent (they intend to hack you or worse) 2) Advertisements And how is that any different than any other day? People will still spam you, people will still try to send you trojans via email. Just be smart and not let them. |

Truth is, what can they really do? I mean a lot of us run our servers from our home network. It's not like our IP addresses aren't widely available. Locally, I've got a firewall and a router than filters all incoming traffic. If it's not going to an approved port, and there isn't corresponding outbound traffic, it gets dropped. The risk of getting hacked from the outside is practically nil. A bigger threat is getting hijacked by a trojan/virus. In today's world, most threats are internal. |
