All those things would still be here, especially at 14400 baud.

But it was nice try by you, regardless. You should try WOW, it's real easy.

The number of scripts that are out may make it hard to figure out which one(s) to use when first coming back into TW, but I really only use about 20 or so scripts out of about 800 that I have. I am not sure what is causing the corrupt databases - I have that happen sometimes but not often.

I know some players really don't care for Bots and the scripted games. It is not really an issue of figuring out which script to use in that case, just a personal preference. We play different games because we enjoy them, and that is what it is really all about -- fun.

I hate to see a player leave, but glad you gave it a try. Maybe you will give it a try again someday.

Try games A, B, or C at twgsgold.servegame.com. They are low-turn build-style games that really do not lend themselves to most of the more agressive scripts.

Additionally, these games do not tend to attract power-scripters as they are just too slow.

Thanks, I have been playing unlims so I can better understand what scripts to run. And My biggest problem was the Bot commands. I have since read a few links that people sent me to help me better understand.

Scripts during the days of 14400 didn't do nearly the amount of things scripts today do. I mean, not even close. 14400 = Telemate. What BOT was ever written in Telemate?

Hehe. I had some telemate scripts, mostly PPT. But since most systems were single node, bots weren't really that useful. Considering how hard it was to connect and stay connected, people tended to be at keys when they dialed in. It wasn't until the internet and twgs (or BBS telnet front ends) that multi-user play really caught on.

Space Ghost had a bot written in Qmodem, when I restarted in 1996. I think he had it a year at the time. The only feature I can remember is a saveme, but he might care to post details. I seldom made 14400 at the time, house and town were wired by Alexander Graham Bell.

HAHAHAHA any scripts SG used don't count. He was notorious for relying on his scripts and getting blown up for it. I can still remember hitting his fighters, quickly retreating and then photoning that sector because you could count on him being there. And he wouldn't even know until morning because he had gone to bed. He spawned the phrase, "Waking up dead."

That reminds me - SG told me one morning that he had been attacked/invaded AFK the night before, and the script was set to make noises. He didnt hear it but his dog got upset and woke him up, saving the day.

Umm I could have the Year off by a bit, But, SG and Medusa Used to P-drop me on a BBS I would Telnet into from Virginia. And that was like in the early 90's. Twgs came along right after that. I could be off a lil tho.

Yeah, I had those, too. I wouldn't consider those "bots". We certainly never called them "bots" back then. They were simple scripts that did this...

"if fig in sector hit"
"ptorp"

It's like four lines of code, max.
