I'm looking for a copy of the original Pirate edit. I was given it once, I think from White Eagle or something like that, along with how he introduced the aliens in a timed basis.
I've lost it somehow, and want to run it again, it was a fun edit for those that like turn based games.
If Res Judicata is the author then I have the edit. If that's the case, I just need the setup instructions.

Any help would be appreciated.

The original pirates edit (pirates final) was written by res, adapted from an old "Wooden ships and Iron clads" edit I believe.

It has no aliens.

I have the file, hit me up on icq or something and I'll try to send it.

I had a version of pirates that someone sent me (I thought it was original) that did have aliens. There was a timetable to introduce them to make the game more challenging as you went along. Sing is your version of Pirates Final the same as the one if the TW Database Project?

Someone hacked it then. You'd almost have to twist Res's arm to get him to put aliens into an edit, especially one like Pirates that was meant to be a low turn game. There have been several people take the pirates edit and more or less hacked it to where it's not even the same game. You'd think they'd have the decency to come up a name of their own and not affiliate it with Pirates at all.

the one you have in the 1.4 database is the Pirates final. (been in there since the 1.0) So you probably already have it.

Wonder if I'm thinking of the wrong edit then?

What are the ships in the edit? Or the alien names? Or the planets?

 Sing Never Sleeps :!:

Honestly I don't rember. I got the edit from a fellow going by white eagle or something like that. with another that I don't remember either. I seem to have lost the folder I saved his files in. I hate loosing files! I'll have to dig through the computer a bit deeper. I don't think I've ever deleted an edit from that computer since I fired up TWGS on it.

Right, I remember the guy you're talking about. He ran "eagle's nest" or something to that effect. I've seen some Pirates with aliens before, Pirate's cove used to have one, and years ago I played a 10k pirates on Eagle's server (me, charlie, zilla, quiver versus jester, flip, gemini, loc and some others) so I know he had one too.

But generally speaking, pirates final doesn't have aliens. I have it running on my server, game G, at the moment.

So you might be thinking of a pirates with aliens added in, or you might be thinking of another edit. If you can remember any part of the edit I might be able to look it up, or if I've played it I'd prolly remember it (or someone else here will).

Yep, that's it, and it was reqested I host the pirates with aliens so I contacted him and he gave me the edit. I'm still digging.
I remember it now though. I put up the Non-alien version, and someone was asking about the edit with aliens, so I searched it out. It was a fun edit, but not the original Pirates. My email crashed long ago and I lost many of my older saved emails, including my Tradewars folder. Then something like this comes along, and you remember just how hard you kicked yourself for not having that backed up :(
