Out of curiousity I pulled the server stats from the Stardock (http://www.thestardock.com/) to see what the averages were for the servers that are available.

I found 19 servers hosting 197 games and not all games had players in them. It is also impossible to determine if a game is active or not even with players showing so...

By turns:
51 Unlim games
33 high turn (20-65k)
18 mid turn (5k – 10k)
95 Low Turn (250 – 4500)

By universe size
128 – 20K Sector
35 – 10k – 15K
34 – 100 – 8k (100 sectors? weird)

Average is 7.71 players in a game. This covers 0 to 177 players showing in each game.
The median number of players per game is 4.
0 - 2 players in 84 games.
Ice9 shows 3 games with > 100 players in each

The oldest game is on UTW at 2227 days.
The average age per game is 138.75 days.
The median age is 81 days.

Take the stats for what they are worth.

Not really for me. I was bored last night and was wondering what the stats might be (yeah, stats tell the story someone wants to tell most of the time). If I was a fairly active player, then I would want to see a lot more active bangs out there. A lot of very old games from what I can tell.

Many Many servers are NOT on Stardock for some reason. We are in a game with 12 active players atm that is not on Stardock.

I wish there was a accurate way to poll the amount of players that are still active (total). I've allways been curious as to the amount of players still kicking.

More than you think. I run into more and more private servers out there all the time.

I agree. We are just a handfull of the players and servers that are actually out there, and I'm sure that many of them have chosen NOT to be a part of our little community. Wonder why? lol
